Traveled up to Clava just outside Inverness today. We were here earlier in the year and read about how it lines up with midwinter sunset so thought it’d be fun to try and see it.
Further research suggested it has been cloudy for about the last 20 midwinters so we didn’t hold out much hope, especially since it was pretty overcast in Glasgow this morning but just north of Aviemore it really cleared up and the sun was splitting the trees for our arrival at Clava.
Spoke to a guy that’s been going for ten years and never seen it.
Fuck knows how they aligned these things, it’s not like it wasn’t ever cloudy in the Bronze Age right?!

Pretty much. I saw a couple of twitter posts mentioning it. That's the extent of my involvement.

Still able to source the goat's blood?

I swam naked in a near frozen lake before the sun had breached the horizon. Then had a chat with a wee Robin. Alas, no goats blood....yet.

The 2020 great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn will be the closest since 1623 and the closest observable since 1226! ... Jupiter and Saturn are up every evening now – not far from the sunset glare – easily visible and exceedingly noticeable as two bright objects near each other.21 hours ago
