Another whisky that vanished is BNJ. A cheap, excellent blend that was discontinued to preserve the malts used for single malt bottlings.

Both that and Teachers were firm favourites of my wife’s grandad who was instrumental in my whisky education.
Think I still have a bottle, or half at least, under the stairs.

Teachers still seems readily available over here in France, there's quite a big market for blended whisky over here (especially shit ones with cheesy Scottish names).
The arse has completely fallen out of the blended market in the UK, I wouldn't be surprised if they keep teachers for markets where the name still has some prestige. They might also just be upping the output of ardmore single malt which is lowering the the amount of decent stuff for teachers.
It might also just be a temporary thing whilst they up production in general.

Not too shabby for a first ever Manx whisky. All local too.
3 year old.

I wonder what they've done to it to make it that colour after only three years?

First taste the other night. It's OK, not as good as the Seaweed and Digging and Aeons and Fire, but then I'm not really a huge fan of Speyside. It's vaguely dried fruit tasting, probably finished in Sherry casks and that's it (although it's only 8 YO, so for how long?!). Wouldn't bang again

we had our age statement whisky night on Wednesday evening.
7 bottles of very varied flavour profiles.
the Arran won the trophy on the night, with the Blair Athol in second place.
the strangest whisky of the night was the wormtub cask strength. super dark, super sherried, really powerful flavour that needed a lot of water to tame down.
testing it neat at 56% was like being kicked in the nuts. weird stuff.excellent night overall, and a few sore heads yesterday morning for sure!
we also started our infinity bottle, but I think the wormtub might have a slightly overpowering effect on the end product. oh well! 😅

Do they have to list things like caramel and/or colouring as an ingredient?
At the other end of the scale...

This year’s cellar discovery: a) sell b) keep c) drink? Internet seems to say £2-300 to buy, but realise that’s not what I’d get for it by selling it on.
Anyone know what it’s likely to taste like? If I’m going to drink it it may as well be a flavour I’m partial to.
