  • As I'm currently injured, left knee fucked. I'm doing mostly upper at the moment (can still do deadlift luckily) and it has me reevaluating which plan to follow.

Has anyone done 5/3/1 with Boring but big with good results? ideally I can use an app to track.

  • Yes I've done BBB. It is good, but from my experience (and what I've read of others), you really do want to be eating in a decent surplus while running it.

Idk about an app but there are good spreadsheets that function similarly to an app for a lot of 5/3/1 variants.

  • Yes, It was a god programme for me , got good results for a few cycles. As @zooeyzooey says, you'll need to be eating a lot and getting good recovery, not a programme to do on a cut. It can also be taxing if you're doing other exercise elsewhere.

I found that over time the volume wears and fatigues you. Once your 5x10 sets reach a decent percentage of your working max it can cumulatively fatigue you . Heavy squats then 5x10 deadlifts at ~70% can be a hard day... doing a day on day off schedule helped to mitigate

Possibly an ideas to swich to another 531 variant for a cycle or two if this happens .

I used a google sheet to track and calculate weights- liftvault has lots of them .

  • This one's a classic.

I ran it years ago. It worked, definitely put some size on.
