    I'm a fan of the Tool Porn thread but these pumps work. I'm sure someone on here services shocks more often than me but I don't know if they'll have some sort of premium setup.

  • 600psi?! What's that for? There's no way anyone should let me have something that inflates to 600psi :D

  • Anyone know of anyone other than Thule that makes roof carriers?

    I've just fitted bars and 2x 591 Prorides to my car as the new mtb is so long it's a pain carry it inside the car. Turns out my bike is also too long for the Thule carriers!

    I've shunted the bracket back a bit and got it just supporting the front wheel but think a carrier that you bolt the fork into might be better. Thule ones are a bit pricey though so wondering if there's any others to look at.

    Fully servicing a shock with IFP pressure above 350psi or whatever the other pumps max out at.

    But you're not going to be doing damper services. So just get anything that's not the decathlon shit and crack on

  • I have the Lifeline and Fox branded version of the same shock pump- the only difference is branding and price.

  • What's the wheelbase of your bike? Even my G16 in large fits (just) on a 591 rack. Front wheel hangs off by about 2cm but it stays put, no probs.

  • 1285mm according to the geometry chart.

    I found a couple brands that have fork clamp ones that look good and a bit more reasonable than Thule.

    Atera and Yakima, their HighSpeed looks good.

  • Mine is 1328mm, are you sure you've adjusted and slid everything as far as it can go?

  • Yeah, hold on, I took a photo…

    This is where I ended up with the ‘tray’ the bike sits in slid 100mm further forward of the bracket with the arm than it’s meant to be.

    The instructions for swapping the bracket/arm to the other side show that there should be 250mm from the edge of it to the end of the ‘tray’ But at that the wheel was right off the end and I couldn’t get the strap around it without sliding the black bit that holds it right off the end too.

    I looked at the instructions for the 598 and noticed there’s no such measurement given.

    It’s not like moving the bracket further back along the ‘tray’ changes where the weight is sitting or anything, that’s all set by the arm.

  • Oh sorry, I have realised mine are 598. Can confirm those definitely fit long bikes!

  • I wonder if they made the tray longer then, or maybe the arm as that’d push the bike back a bit.

  • Do what @Alb does and spin the forks backwards when mounting the bike on the rack then spin em back when you get to your destination.

  • Back on the MTB after broken shoulder and the 3 months off.

    Did my usual short lunch time XC loop yesterday and it went okay, but I felt very skittish and kept looking at my front wheel and the obstacles and everything that I shouldn't have looked at. Then at the bottom of a switchback there was a tiny rock roll sorta bit and my brain just went "nope" so I had to roll up to it three times just to re-learn that the Epic Evo just swallows stuff like that.

    Anyways, onwards and upwards from here. Guess time in the saddle will get me back into it. Big goal is 12hr XC marathon end of April

  • Every time I’m out on either of my mtb’s I constantly have to tell myself that the bike is WAY more capable than I am when negotiating many bits of trail.

  • Intellectually I know that. Viscerally my brain just freaks out ATM. Doesn't help that I broke the shoulder as a result of an OTB, even if it was on the gravel bike.

    I've come to the conclusion that I'm merely a passenger on whatever journey my bike decides to go on
