  • I found the axle on stamps too pronounced in comparison to the rest of the platform, but I think they were at the low end of the stamp range so maybe more expensive ones don’t have that issue.

  • I've got both the Stamp 1 and then payed up for the Stamp 7. Can't say I noticed much, although they bigger allen "spikes" seem to work better with my Shimano shoes compared to the Stamp 1 pins.

  • Plastic Nukeproofs for me. Got a couple different versions across a few bikes.

  • I was actually just looking at these. The size and shape seems perfect.
What I don't like though is that they don't have real roller bearings but some sort of gliding bushes

  • Bearings are just smaller parts to lose or break. I don't care what they've got so long as they spin.

  • Stanton is back, now with silly looking 27.2 dropper. But it does actually drop so that's better than the OneUp.

  • I've been using a couple of options from Deity. The rather expensive alu Tmac and the more reasonably priced composite Deftrap and they both appear to suit my oversized feet

No pins along the centre, but the edge ones seem to stop my feet from going anywhere in Five Tens

  • I have the cheaper Pembree pedals on my mountain bikes - do like.

  • Ortlieb Quick Rack doesn't appear to fit 29x2.35 using the OMM thru axle adapters. So that's um cool.

I guess because they're mounting it on proper rack mounts but with axle mounts it sits lower. I might have to use the frame mount blocks after all and ditch the "almost same cost as the fucking rack" axle.

I wonder if the OMM rack will fit and if I can get one in 3 days

I can't find any height measurements for the OMM rack - where the fuck do they hide this shit?

    Google found me some measurements

  • you are a hero for conduction this experiment though

  • Nothing like panic buying hundreds of quid worth of shit that doesn't fit before a trip.

  • What's a good, accurate, durable digital shock pump to buy?

  • I've never needed digital so no personal reccos. But I want the Ohlins so get that and be the guinea pig please cheeers mate

  • That sounds like something for @Dammit

What would a normal nerd mechanic buy? Between best bang for buck and best overall.

  • I have now ordered an Ortlieb Quick Rack Seat Stay Mount and an OMM Divide Rack so at the end of the day I will either have 0 functional racks for the trip or I will have a choice of 2. #fuckbikes

  • The Ohlins looks to be the exact same one that everyone just slaps their own logo on- get the cheapest one that looks like that is my advice.

  • Which one is that then? :)

  • Anyone seen a Wolftooth Valais type thingie for 27.2 droppers. Yes, @skinny I know you would just use gorilla tape but I like the Valais. :P

  • Re: shock pumps, my mates at the LBS gave me a basic Rockshox one (analogue). It seems pretty accurate compared to the digital readings I was getting from a borrowed Shockwiz.

  • Mine might be accurate but the markings are too damn small so I've no feckin' idea what's actually going in. (Hello middle-age IT worker, bye bye perfect eyesight)

  • Fox

Accuracy is less important than consistency :)

  • For me I'm not so sure. I can't tell any difference at any pressure anyway. I just want to do what the manufacturer suggests for a given load (hippyisfat) and then leave it be until I add/remove bikepacking bags. I'm not the guy that's going to 'session' a run for a day to tune suspension. I'm the guy that should've stuck with rigid singlespeeds but likes to ride more than walk.

  • What would a normal nerd mechanic buy?

High pressure so you can actually service everything. I'm still happy with non digi.
I'd buy Rockshox, which is what I have used.

  • There is an Ohlins one that can also be used for tyres I think, which would be useful as a single pump to pack. I have the Digital Shock pump, so far so good, but whether it is saying the correct number, no idea, as long as it is constant and you have a record/remember the numbers you use that should be ok.

"While branded RockShox, this same pump can be found with Fox or even Truflo branding too."

    https://bikerumor.com/ohlins-factory-racing-limited-edition-upgrades/

It also looks the same as the Ohlins pump.
