• He are a few when he was a bit younger.

Both my lurchers are nuts but as long as they get the walk/run on the field together each day they just sleep.

  • All the better for running with. I take my dogs all out at the same time. I also have a boxer cross. It’s funny as they all love each other but on the field he can’t even run half their speed so constantly chasing after them.

  • I’ve always had bull breeds but since of got my lurchers I think that’s all I’ll ever have now. Such good dogs.

  • Lurchers is it? Great, apart from the vet bills for the inevitable stitch ups.

A very rare moment of them choosing to share a bed yesterday.

  • This is the very regal Ziggy, not mine but from the breeder of our border.

  • Oh my goodness! Those ears.

Reminds me of my friends brindle stuffy/lurcher when he was a puppy.

  • We've had Crumpet 3 years today. I can't believe how quickly it's gone and I can't believe how much I love this stupid pup. Here she is predicting the weather (currently raining). Anyone reading this who's on the fence about rescuing a dog, do it.

  • So, almost 4 months of Owen. It's been great, but far from simple. We were totally prepared for the puppy stage being hard work but it's been even tougher than anticipated. Absolutely thrilled we seem to have turned a corner on the mouthing/biting situation, it was getting really boring. I think some combination of teething lessening and his emotional maturity progressing, but it's now becoming uncommon and something he will respond to instructions to stop, whereas for a while it was every evening between 6-8pm and at random other times of high-juice during the day. We're really working on his training - we did a puppy school which was good for socialistion, a general introduction to training principles and reassurance that everyone else was struggling too, but not much beyond that. Since that we've been doing this monthly thing with a trainer I really respect; each month we get one hour in person, 3 hours on zoom and constant support/updates via whatsapp, in which we upload videos of various training exercises we've been set which he'll analyse and make suggestions to improve and generally provides support. It's really worked well for us, and generally he's just a great guy, would recommend to anyone.

The joy of having the soft bastard around the house is impossible to express, seeing him play off lead (and offer every passing dog/person/pigeon his belly - he is the ultimate beta dog) and generally enrich our lives is more than we could have hoped for.

  • I remember when I thought a puppy was hard work, then I had a kid!

Also, you'll miss the puppy nature when they're bigger and more aloof.

    What a cutie

  • Very cute!

  • If it makes you feel better, before you know it they will be out of the puppy stage and you'll be wishing to go back. Our whippet was a nightmare for biting and pissing in the house at the most inconvenient time, now at 2 he's brilliant.

  • Fabulous pictures from the last couple of oages. Here’s mine, 11yo and still a quivering mess at the sight of a deer.

  • Any recommendations for eye-drops? One of the dog's eyes is a bit pink and gets a bit more gooey than usual the past couple of days, have been wiping with surgical spirit on a cotton bud, but feel like drops might be useful/better?

The stuff I saw at pets at home had something about 'being created with a top homeopathic person' which immediately puts me off.

  • Crumpet had to go out in the rain this morning. This is my attempt to get her to stop sulking. It seems to be working.

  • If this is crumpet stopping sulking I dread to think how powerful the look must be when actually sulking.

    Absolute dreamboat!

  • This is her face when she's forced outside in the rain. Livid.

  • Still gorgeous! Owen's no fan of the rain either. He just looks terrified rather than livid....

  • She's from Greece, she's not built for rain. Glad to hear Owen is settling in so well, as others have said, all the annoying puppy behaviour will go away with time and consistency! Crumpet doesn't do half of the stupid stuff she did when we adopted her at 5 months old.

  • Bosco, Border Terrier, incredibly weird with water.
Hates rain, jumps puddles, won't walk on wet sand.
Reluctant to leave the house if it is drizzly, refuses to walk if we put a jacket on him.

Day care insists on a coat as it is outside (some is covered with a huge polytunnel thing, but it's still cold) I'm sure he just stands about for a few hours.

  • I’m not sure about using surgical spirit and think that may be your issue, maybe water or saline solution.

  • Mine won't go out in the rain now.

  • That's exactly the same as Peanut he's a border jack, if it is raining when you leave the house he won't go even with a jacket on.
