Mark Fisher MP (Lab) currently the only Labour MP to have gone to Eton, and followed it up with Trinity College Cambridge.
-
• #6078
That’s quite good, I’ll give you that :-)
-
• #6079
He’s not a sitting MP is he?
-
• #6080
Ahh, he was the last (ever?) Eton educated Labour MP; I missed his retirement on the Wiki

• #6081
why?

I just got the Old Etonian 22/23 Review through the door.* Some OE had clearly fallen on hard times if they were living here. Hit me up if you want the latest news on their College Hunt (beagling twice a week right now), Horse Racing and Breeding Society or the OE Lodge of Freemasons.
They are clearly getting the message on diversity, as they were excited about letting the LGBTs in for the first time ever and I think I saw a black face in the background on page 59.
If anyone wants to do a group buy, the prices on OE bow ties, braces, cufflinks and cummerbunds are actually pretty reasonable. As they've been subsidised by the proles.
*guess where that quote's ending up...

Michelle Mone hopefully gonna take a few tory cunts down with her sadly she won't ever see jail though.

Oh how they love their fancy dress.

letting the LGBTs in for the first time ever
You mean acknowledging it formally? They've been buggering each other for centuries. I'm pretyt sure it's Tradition, whether they want to do it or not.

Three cups of coffee.

Without fishing it out of the recycling, I think it was the first time their LGBT society had formal recognition or something. Just skimmed it, was in a rush to get to the obits to see how many of the cunts had died.

Don’t forget the French already had their pound of flesh.
The whole submarine bullshit was bizarre tho; ask the French to turn their nuclear sub into a conventional one “because we don’t like nuclear here” then complain that it’s not nuclear.
Do you happen to know Adelaide fared? I know the city was putting their hopes on the naval yard after the car plants closed (we were considering an office there at one point).

Marina Hyde describing the Mone interview as a 'disasterclass' is one of the many gems in this:

Marina Hyde of Christ Church, Oxford. Michelle Mone of no qualifications.

Your point is?

Perhaps life isn't as simple as people would like it to be.

I'm sure you'll correct me if I'm wrong, but I think only one of them trousered £65 million of public money during the pandemic.
I know who I'll reserve my opprobrium for.

• #6094
Quite. You can be an awful grifter with no qualifications and you can be quite a good journalist even if you attended Oxbridge.

The first sentence alone….

can we rename the thread bc currently every time there is an update i think the tories might have finally fallen and the optimism and self delusion this requires is becoming a weird tracker of my slow descent into madness. plus a different title might be clearer because we don’t want anyone mistakenly thinking this is a thread for rallying round the tories or coming to their defence in their hour of need.

The Mone action recently has been interesting. radio silence from them for months, then their bazaar YouTube video last week, the Kuenssberg interview and now she doing her best to implicate anybody else in the Tory party.
I think they might be worried that the investigation isn’t going well from them. I wonder how long before no10 makes a call to the police to shut it all down like they did with the vote leave investigation.

The recall petition for Peter Bone has enough support to trigger a byelection.
