I'm afraid to say none of that worked. I've had to destroy plenty lock barrels in my life; this, was a bastard. Honda sure do make 'em solid.
Every pin in this was seized, including the barrel and springs at the bottom.
Drilled and smashed out.Now I'm faced with a half rusted tank. I hate rusty tanks.
@pdlouche it'll come back for sure. I was like this a couple years back after a nasty injury. Won't lie, it'll take ages, but it will come back. I swapped out cleats to flats and didn't try to push myself. Super light work out session most mornings. I'm getting back my fitness

Look is proper fucked. Easy enough to buy a replacement and either you or a locksmith will alter the lock key so be keyed alike
Por 15 kit is a fave, before that it was petseal.
Por15 kit has been reformulated.
Does acedic acid (non brewed condiment/cheap white vinegar) citric acid (lemon salt) or molasses work? Read so many stories, never been arsed to do those.
Tho wanted to try this https://youtu.be/ICW01HFbaxc?si=PufIwyE2X3G3AdXn
but as you see the process is mullet necessaryI'd see if bilt hamber do something, as one of there rust converter products I pour on to car inners/floors to stop rust. Not used on a tank.

So this happened today, won’t be able to saddle up until spring of course. That gives me and the mechanic lots of time to return the lights to euro standard (get rid of those pods), install a rear rack, put some Motul oil in and and thoroughly check the bike over.

Congrats scotah boi.
So bank holidays down to the sea side to fight with the rockers. In your tailor made suit and a real parka ;)
The square head lamp reminds me of the 50 special, therefore extra cool.

Yeah the headlight totally sold me.
It's a wee 50 so quick getaways post fracas will not be an option, maybe I can negotiate a win on style points. -

You could still do lanes all the way to the sea although I'd see it like a long cycle, a challenge but fun because of it
-
• #24684
With 50cc fuel economy the entire journey would cost a tenner too.
-
• #24685
Seeing it’s over 2400 kms to the sea, I would also view it as a long cycle.

2 1/2 gallons then

Ooof. That's going to be at least a tank of petrol

Changed the bulbs for the speedo back light on the mighty Honda C90 this morning. Surprisingly easy to swap in some led bulbs, ten minutes at the most.
The instructions I got from the c90 forum said “ Unscrew the speedo cable from the speedo (but don't let it drop down into the depths of the handlebar casing)”
but what they should’ve said is “but don't let the speedo cable retaining nut drop down into the depths of the handlebar casing because it’s a bastard to get out”. Guess how I know that?
About an hour later all back together, skinned knuckles, my back is in tatters and the speedo illuminated. With regards to the back in tatters has anyone found a light bike lift that is any use in avoiding being hunched up?

The leather tool bag I got for my scooter plays quite well with Brooks saddles.
Strange that I haven’t read about all the hog riders that’ve been using them on their Rivendells too.

Shades of Honda ct125 (that is not a bad thing). £7.5 is a bit spendy though.
Sorry to hear the project has become a project...!
You're right though. It takes experience to truly learn, and even then some people aren't capable of reflecting long enough to benefit.
In other news I ignored the sinus issues long enough to manage about 20 mins on the trials bike this morning and my hands ache like day one. All the illness and injury this year put paid to cycling and trials riding, and I can see my general and bike fitness will take some time to return. Frustrating.
