Hi I pm about the red Fuji in 57

I’ll repost with an updated list next week. I’ve already seen one of the bikes on EBay which is a bit of a shame so it’ll be one bike per person from now on

That didn't take long. Bought for £100 last week, now selling for £300?

Hello.
As I’ve explained to @WelwynWheelers already, I bought this bike for my brother who was interested to try a track bike.
Turns out he didn’t like it and didn’t buy it off me.
I did also buy a bike for me which I’m using and enjoying - thank you.
I put the bike on Ebay to cover my costs and raise some much needed cash.I see now that that will stir up huge amount of heat here very quickly so I’ve removed the bike from sale altogether. I don’t want to be the center of any attention here. I like using this forum, and I’m not trying to abuse it for profits - just trying to get by and occasionally spending more cash than I should 😝
Thank you.

I went up today and bought a bike. Welwyn Wheelers have a great set-up. It was fantastic seeing lots of volunteers and coaches helping youngsters get into cycling - even in the pouring rain everyone is dedicated to the cause.
If you feel like you're getting a bargain off them, why not give them a little more cash for your bike? I did. It's going to a good cause, after all.

You could always offer the bike for sale here for whatyou paid plus your reasonable costs incurred? However, when you say you are looking to raise some much needed cash it does suggest you were looking to gouge the price from the outset

That's someone else for the don't trade with list

Whilst I agree that if your Welwyn velodrome bargain doesn't work out for you, it should be offered back to the group at a reasonable rate, I just wanted to add that in my experience buying and selling stuff with him, @BigH has been an honest and generous-spirited community member.
I'm assuming that the Mercian sale is by his mate rather than by BigH himself no?In other news, I'm loving my Shorter and have covered about 500 miles on it

lovely bike that

No doubt @BigH (does the H stand for Hugo?) is a nice enough guy to buy from but it's also on ebay for £425.
Possibly some affiliation with Juice bikes who I think have been called out on this forum before.
Anyway GLWS to whoever is selling it but the honourable thing to do would be to donate a bit of the profit to Welwyn velodrome at least.
Your Shorter looks lovely @Rik_Van_Looy!

I believe bigH and juice bikes are one and the same?
So perhaps his ‘mate’ who bought it, is just the guy he sees in the mirror -
• #66
absolute gem!

• #67
I can't work out if you have any bikes left for sale lol, I'd like one
-
• #68
Shorter looking great in the sun, @Rik_Van_Looy. You ridden it up Ditchling Beacon yet?
-

Cheers guys, I can't imagine that a more fun bike can be had for £100 anywhere!!!
Thanks again to Finn and the guys at Welwyn, this one's definitely found a good home!
@lesterama - yes indeed, it was right at the end of a 90-mile ride taking in Staple Hill, WhiteDown and Box hill, so I was pretty battered by the top! -

Bravo! The lowest fixed gear I've used on the Beacon is 42/20, in the days when I was lighter and faster.
Potential dibs if you ever decide to sell. -
• #71
shorter is nice.
Mercian too, what a shame it's being flipped. -
• #72
Yeah clearly the original story about it being bought for a mate to be used as a daily commuter was BS, far too nice of a frame for that sort of thing.

Cheers and noted!

For full clarity yes Juice is me. If you knew it then you probably understand the way I operated it, but if not then briefly it was about supplying affordable/serviced lightweight steel bikes to people of London. I tapped into the market trying to challenge real profiteering shops in east London many of you know. It came about at a time of desperation after lockdown where I lost all my work (art tech/freelancer) and I was lucky enough to fund a space cheap enough to be able to do this and barely make a small level of profit to sustain the time and effort.. I recently lost my space at short notice in July when the landlords kicked me out due to selling the lease to Sands catering company who was ultimately willing to pay nearly double the rent. Funnily enough I now actually sleep with spanners and wrenches under my bed.
I've tried to avoid buying stuff on here for people I know, because not like some people who are piping in with spicy comments I've actually lurked on here for a very long time and fully backed the forum as a community space (big up all the st pauls cru) before and after the switch so I've tried to not mix the two things to avoid situations like this.
Anyways, believe me if you want or not I didn't really want to stick it up on ebay but theres a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes recently which will give you some context of why I've pretty much had to it..
Ive been shafted by the two people I shared my workshop with for islington council business rates, summonsed to court and being charged £1690 total. One gave their word they will pay (not recieved a single p since July) and the other just plain ghosted me. I am being hounded by the managing agents of the unit for service charges for a unit that never got any service from them - B Bailey limited of Ilford. This could easily be another £1k if I wasn't in the process of challenging. Oh and the 45 year old boiler at my mums has gone and needed to be replaced, alongside a broken wachine machine and leaking external waste pipe oh and leaking gutter in the roof needing scaff etc. So lets call it around £4k? going out at a very quiet time with work. Hard to believe all this has come at once but it has and its stress.
I'm not trying to excuse making a profit on the Mercian.. but I actually did buy it for my mate who was going to commute from Harlesden to QP daily for work but it didn't work out for many reasons and he ultimately told me to sell it for as much as its worth to try and alleviate the bullshit situation of the workshop I'm in. I think in this situation a lot of people would be doing the same and they probably wouldn't even bother to reply to the thread. If I wanted to just buy and flip I would've set up an account like user157152 and not even went through the effort to think of a username then flipped it on a random ebay account..
As much I want to keep my word on the quote above from two years ago, I know I can make a few quid on it to help right now to help with the situation I'm in. I've sold a lot of stuff on here for way less than its worth over the years and in similar fashion, will be doing the same after the new year when I start getting surplus Juice Bikes stuff out of my mates storage unit, as right now I don't see myself getting another workshop unless a cheap one comes about. I will be making a thread with loads of bits going cheap for a quick sale. For example a Reynolds mid 2000's Deda Rourke which retailed for a grand or so? with a minor dent on the downtube for lets say £70? So I hope this will level things out.
TLDR. Didn't buy for profit but times are hard atm and need cash to pay sparky for heating.

Don't doubt you needed the cash, do doubt the mate story which I think is BS. Wishing you the best going forward and despite my previous post if I've got something you can move on at any time for a profit you're welcome to it. Just be honest about it
Collected mine today, Thank you @WelwynWheelers, Finn Francis & Lena
