  • Yep, and to keep it slightly on-topic - I-spy a bit of Sachs in there:

  • Not gone into too much detail yet. In fact, haven't had 100% confirmation that I've got a build slot.

    Any further along here?

Not had confirmation of a slot yet, but the deposit has gone through, so guess I'm in. Will maybe email later.

  • You could send him a link to this thread although he may kick you off the list

  • It seems all RS threads bring up some strong opinions but this thread is incredibly tame compared to the one that sprung up on the paceline (where RS himself posts regularly) discussing this years open order book.

  • I haven’t been on paceline for ages- just looking at all the Sachs with the House industries design makes me want one too.
Highly unlikely to ever happen though

  • I have just had an email.

    Slot is confirmed.

  • exciting ! whats the ETA? are you going to USA to collect or getting it shipped?

  • No ETA.

As far as I am aware, he works his way through the list and I guess I'll get an email at some point telling me when I'm next up.

Seriously considering going to the USA to collect (and potentially avoiding tax). Just can't bare long distance flights.

  • I need to send Richard my desired dimensions.

Not sure what to do about this. I currently ride frames with seat tubes in the 57 - 61 cm range. Most comfortable is 59 / 60 ish.

However, I am now in my 60's, so expect to start getting slowly shorter, so thinking maybe 58 might be best.

Was just looking at bike fitting - now that is expensive!

    And full of charlatans.

  • Bikefit sounds like a good idea

  • I nearly got "in line" a few years ago but got an ATMO hat instead. Then I got a frame and fork from Dave Kirk which I have not built up and so will follow this thread with interest. Thank you.

  • weeeeeeelllll, I take a 60-62cm, so I reckon get a 60 & sell it to me if/when it gets too big.

in all seriousness, if it were me I would get the right size now, rather than trying to guess a different size to "grow into", but I'm younger than you & foolish

  • Agreed with the part about getting the right fit now. Surely you'll want to enjoy riding it when it's done, so get the right size now. There's also the aesthetics factor.

Sounds like you'll be building it up in a somewhat classic sort of way, if I read correctly. Too much seatpost wouldn't look quite right on a classic build. ATMO

Make sure you start a thread about that.

  • I understand RS asks for saddle height, reach from saddle to bars, and saddle to bar drop, and he does the rest. I think if you gave him those (current) details, assuming they're comfy now, with the brief that the fit should have room to go up and back a touch as you get older, he could probably factor that in.

  • Bit of an Eldon Tyrell vibe there

  • Stanley Tucci surely

  • That's Mark Strong, isn't it?

  • Or Moby.
