Fully bought into this project and looking to get as much vicarious enjoyment out of it as possible. Thanks @Jingle_Jangle

I will apologise in advance. The one thing I am reasonably sure about is that it will be red.

Is this a redemption of Sachs thread?
I like the aesthetic, I like the bikes, I think he’s a bit of a plum. I don’t know if his style and build quality is integral to him being a plum, but which cancels out the other?

His plum is surely part of the brand mystique.
I always enjoyed his internet persona on velocipede.
There's a Peg on eBay atmo in my size with the paint I would choose that would essentially be my dream road bike. I'm too tight to ever spend so much on a bike so I admire the OP for just getting the cash down. These are functional objects with the ability to trigger all sorts of status v beauty emotions. The problem for me is that I find that when I am actually riding a bike, I don't think about the bike itself very often. -

I'm excited about this project.
I've also had a few nice interactions with Sachs online. He seems genuine.
I think some of the show he puts on is affected, but also some is just his personality. Listen to his interview on "The Pull" podcast. It's interesting.
Also, for those on instagram, check out Cyclingnerd's page. Some fun bikes, and several second hand Sachs that he rides regularly. https://www.instagram.com/cyclingnerd?igshid=YzAwZjE1ZTI0Zg==
All that said, I'll happily follow along here.

“The problem for me is that I find that when I am actually riding a bike, I don't think about the bike itself very often.”
That’s exactly what sorted nice riding bikes do.
The aura, look, heritage, emotional connection and back story come in to play outside of the ride experience.

I find it a bit rude that people are debating the merit in OP spending his money how he sees fit, in his own Current Projects thread.
Come on, I don't give a flying fuck what people want to spend their cash on but if you're gonna tell people on public forum! ( especially this forum) that you're dropping 6g's on a steel frameset from a builder who has the equivalent of a live, laugh, love website, you've got to expect a tiny bit of ribbing.
-

I believe that AOL era websites are all the rage with gen alpha atmo.

I think there will always be a discussion of 'is it worth it?' when anyone mentions buying something this far along the price spectrum. That said, I think it's been done respectfully, and the conversation has been interesting.

This is how Dicky Sachs describes himself in an interview with Silca: “I'm an effete elitist aesthetic slut. That's all you need to know.”
He’s a bit marmite -

To be fair, I didn't mention the cost.

I wonder if Kevin Sayles will come out of retirement to build me a frame for that :)
-
• #94
He's still building isn't he?

• #95
I thought he had retired from Woodrup?

Better done in here than behind OP’s back Shirley?
Also, I don’t think anyone is genuinely trying to dissuade @Jingle_Jangle from his decision.

He has, but I believe he is now building under his own name:

Brilliant framebuilder.

I've fallen in love with this bike. Tell me it's a 62/63cm and you only want £300 for it.

Me too... It belongs to someone on here and it's my favourite forum bike
I like the fact he isn’t bothered by his hair loss and has multiple earrings in one hole.
Colour wise NOT red - it’s too predictable like getting a red Ferrari ATMO
