Careful they might tell you to sit down and go away. I tried to do both and honestly I'm confused

• #1103
Which word are you struggling with? Genocide? Apartheid? Oppression?
-
• #1104
Pretty good on all of those, in fact I understand all the words in your post, I just don't understand why you have put them together in the way you have. Also struggling with your combative attitude towards, well I'm not exactly sure who, you are throwing accusations and assumptions around that don't apply to anyone itt
-
• #1105
The problem is that we literally kick the Jewish people out, resulting in Zionism.
-
• #1106
you are criticising Israel and don't see that as anti-semitic
You can critised the action of the Israel government and not be anti-Semitic.
The whole premise of the Israel government is to use anti-semitism as a reason for their action.

I agree - just as I think you can criticise Hamas and not be islamophobic.
I don't know if the "whole premise" of the Israeli govt is to use anti-semitism as a reason for action. I guess to some extent the belief in the need for a militarily equipped Israeli state is due to centuries of anti-semitic persecution, so maybe?

Their PM literally said it’s anti-Semitic for the UN to investigate the IDF for war crime.
-
• #1109
How does that mean it's "the whole premise" of the Israeli state, or that it is a "reason" for their action?
-
• #1110
I think premise is the wrong word; weaponising it is more apt, as they’re justifying their action by using their historic record of Jewish people for being persecuted for thousand of years.
I’d argue that it’s anti-Semitic to claim that’s they’re fighting for Jewish people, linking them to the Israel’s government genocidal action toward the Palestinians.
The Israel (and our government) pretty much made sure antisemitism will happen toward those who are not Zionist.

Yeah first para is not an unreasonable description. I think justified makes it sound cynical though - whereas the sense I get from Jewish friends is that it isn't cynical, they feel genuinely at threat - understandably so given the history.
Not that that excuses all the ways in which the Israeli state does unforgivable stuff, but I don't really feel I'm in much of a position to tell people whose families were killed a couple of generations ago just to get over it - and the issue is that the Oct 7 attacks just reinforce the fear that many Israelis feel they need to use force to protect themselves.
Sadly I think "provoke a reaction" was exactly what those planning the Oct 7 attacks probably wanted, and it's what they're getting

I’m not surprised, as the UN said, it didn’t happen in a vacuum, 75 years of brutal oppression resulting in this attack.

State Department officials are also collecting reports of potential Israeli violations through a system unveiled in August called the Civilian Harm Incident Response Guidance, or CHIRG, according to JOSH PAUL, who quit the department over concerns about its approach to the war. Paul said some officials within the department’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs have asked State’s legal wing to “provide information about their potential international law exposure as a result of approving these sales.”
All this indicates two things: When President JOE BIDEN reiterated Tuesday that Israel was using “indiscriminate bombing” in Gaza — a breach of international humanitarian law — he was likely speaking about information he had. And his administration apparently has some of the data it would need to determine whether or not Israel is violating global rules of war.

Israel have dropped the high explosive equivalent of two Hiroshima bombs on the Gaza strip since the commencement of hostilities. Apparently just short of half are considered to be 'dumb' munitions. All on a strip of land roughly analogous in size and population to the city of Chicago.

size and population to the city of Chicago
?? Not a well known measurement
-
• #1118
A more relatable comparison is a strip of land similar in size and population to the wider urban area of Birmingham.
Which feels both massive in size, but also small when considering the population density. -

Error on my part. It was 350 IDF and 840 civilians (including police and medics) who are thought to have been killed on the 7th.

All US supplied...;)
Who pays for it?

Birmingham conurbation?

Just wanted to let you guys know that my kids finished their fundraising cycling challenge last weekend. A few of you were so kind as to sponsor them, for which I am very grateful! They did their last 10 or so miles by climbing up to Kenwood House and then descending to the finish line at Regent's Park, Inner Circle. They have raised £800 for Palestine Children's Relief Fund - a sum wildly beyond any of our expectations. Thank you!

Just seen IDF shot dead 3 hostages. Obviously a tragic mistake, but evidently they are firing at unarmed men of ‘fighting age’ in the wrong place at the wrong time. One wonders how many unarmed, innocent Palestinians were also “mis-identified as a threat"

Yup, it's what the entire world is thinking right now.
Are you being purposefully obtuse here to prove a point or something because your words are not matching up to reality at the moment
