Wouldn't buy new tyres with one event in mind. I ride Schwable G One Bites everywhere in all conditions...including the DR in the slop last year. Put a few more PSI in.

Given the training and travel I'll be doing, I don't mind investing in a pair of tyres that'll still hopefully see me through the summer after the event.

Ah yeah absolutely. I'm Bite loyal. 45 on front 40 on rear last year (only because 40's were silly cheap when I went to replace rear)

Large ass saver...didn't help anyone's eye balls but was damn necessary for my hoop.
