Truth. It would be a frame swap with the Marin so the clear coated raw Indonesian forks. That would look pretty good tbf

Do it!

Where are all the bear valley defenders

Did you buy that Ebay frame?!

Just booked a train to collect it next Thursday actually. First of all I’ll see if I can unstuck the seatpost. If I do then next thing would be finding someone who can braze rear disc mount and maybe more tyre clearance in the back to match the fork. Inspired by this tomobike’s build here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CtoW9HlMfO6/ I guess I can get in touch with the guy, he’s based in Surrey so not far. next would be sourcing a 26 silver disc wheelset.
If all the above happens and I don’t give up / get too distracted (adhd rules my life atm) in the meantime the Bear Valley frameset will be offered to you @Josh 😉

Cycled all the way to Euston station to get the train to Rugby cos this forum is just enablers enabling enablers. Never strapped a frame set to my backpack before - any advice?

Yessss. Very good.
I've strapped many a frame to my back. I like it to be more vertical than horizontal as it gives you a narrower profile.
Seat tube horizontal to the bottom of my bag usually works. Headtube by your head etc.
Good vibes bro

What Josh said. Much easier on a flat bar bike. Always end up banging my head on the frame if I'm on drop bars!

well did the right thing taking the 'roller! frame back home. seat post is stuck the seller wasn't lying. have not tried anything yet. hopefully time to work on it next week. condition seems overall better irl that how it was pictured. colour is so sick. starting to feel the gas. some blue ano and lot of silver would be dreamy. fingers crossed for the seat post not being an absolute bitch

I had a stuck seat post inside my Palisades Trail.
Caustic soda solution will melt away the alu seatpost enough to free it, hopefully. It did with mine....
I can PM the routine I did if you want?

But dat sweet pink paint

Ild start with plusgas through BB and frame upside down to get it to seep in-between frame and seat post. Then vice and force and cuss and pray

@coventry_eagle is the LUFGUSS resident seatpost removal wizard. He might have some tips!
-
• #40
Oh might have to get in touch!

The previous owner didn’t try to hard apparently so causing soda will be my last resort I think
-
• #42
That’s a good starting point for sure

• #43
Yeah always try less invasive methods first!

yesssss, exciting project

How's the sticky post?!
-
• #46
Gonna pop by to community garage to try it with a vice this wed. Life shit took over bike shit for last 3 weeks!
-
• #47
Sadly plus gas overnight and vice did nothing to the powerful bond the frame has with the post 🫠

Caustic soda worked on "unsticking" 3 sestposts from frames...give it a try?
the train to rugby is pretty painless, one of the better value lines imo: what forks?
