  • good bump on this; how do i tell when the belt is worn and needs replacing? i assume chainring and cog also need replacing at same time? I am at 5k km

  • To be honest I have yet to see one that was worn out through mileage alone. If it doesn't have bits missing or looks dodgy I wouldn't worry about it for at least 10k more. I'm at 7.7k and have no intention of changing mine.
    Anecdotally the 2 warranty jobs we had at work were on almost new ones.

  • They wear as a set. You can flip the belt (4 ways remember) about every 2 to 3k and you'll see 10k out of it no bother. Would admit the best with belts is to flip them when you get around to it and ride them to death, teeth start going missing at an increasing rate = time to replace. Your can loose a few teeth tbh or partial teeth and it's not the end of the world. A clear advantage over chains where they tend to just decide to have a cracked link or failed pin
