Replacing 1 radiator has now turned in to replacing the entire cental heating system. FML.

That’s just the kind of thing you want to do rushed and unplanned.
-
• #43379
Yeah love it. Everything was going to be nice and brass is now going to be cheap and plastic

apparently our radiators are full of sludge? can i flush them myself and is that in situ or outside?
-
• #43381
I am going to try this outside and without a hose. I will report back but already expect it to go poorly.

Maybe grab a bird feeder and fix it over the top.
Wouldn't three of these things work?
Two side-by-side for the fatty and another for the spur(?)?

outside.
Google to check, but I'd have thought running some distilled vinegar through would be a good way to help clean them. There might be an optimal ratio rather than 100% vinegar.

• #43384
What would you use to flush it, and how would you get rid of more solid build up?
-
• #43385
Surely you just grab a spare one of these from under the bathroom sink?
-
• #43386
Can I have a link to that one please?
I don't think we need one for the spur because the stair gate keeps him away from that.
He thinks it's a game now. 14 months old and he's doing things he knows he shouldn't and looking straight at us with a cheeky look on his face.
Our router is also plugged in to a socket that's within easy reach - but downstairs hasn't been rewired yet so we're short of options.

Made some progress on my dining table today and roughed out the frame. My epoxy seems broken and is rubbery after 3 days of "curing". Maybe it was too old as I've had it a while.
Hope to glue up the top either Sunday or Monday

They're a bit more sturdy looking than ours and a bit cheaper. I was a bit shocked about how much ours were for little bits of plastic.

Had a letter from the council today to say our next door neighbour wants to extend over the garage. I’m unhappy about this for a number of reasons. Firstly it will block a significant amount of sunlight from our garden, secondly he is a builder and will do the work himself and judging by the work he’s done so far to his house will bodge this up as well.
They are also very noisy neighbours so ideally I don’t want them to be any closer to us.
If we object then they will know we’ve rejected and on what grounds so I’m cautious about putting pen to paper. Any else had this type of issue?

Don’t want to be negative, but TBH you’ve very little chance of stopping them.
You have no right to light anymore.
The building works will be checked for compliance.
I take it you and they are detached? But pretty close to each other and side to side? The only things you can do are make sure they don’t build over the boundary. Not a mm, no overhanging gutters etc. Make sure there are no windows/ vent etc on the facing wall they would all stop you/next person building over your garage. Oh don’t let them on your property to do anything, no scaffolding on your side, unless you come to an agreement, could be cash, could be working hours. No access unless they agree to only work between x and y o’clock?
If you object they’ll know you did, but not let that stop you.
You could try ‘not in keeping with the area’ ‘sets a precedent’ ‘overdevelopment of the site’ etc. The more people you can get on your side the more chance you have.
Good luck. -

I don’t expect our rejection to come to anything. It’s more the quality of his work thus far has been terrible, unfinished bits falling off, removal of asbestos, relocation of manhole resulting in blockages of drains.

Removal of asbestos is a different ball game, that's HSE reporting thing.

I’ve got my hangers and joist. But it doesn’t quite fill the space. Can I just put some more wood in the hanger to fill the gap?
