  • iPads.

Looking for a fairly basic iPad for my wife for Xmas. She’ll mostly use it for watching tv etc and browsing tat and not actually using it for proper worky stuff, so what of the rather confusing array of models should I be looking at?

  • confusing array of models

Isn't there just one model of literal iPad? If you ignore -Pro, -Mini, colour/storage choice and previous generations?

  • I think the Air is the one to go for; M1 processor vs A13 so a bit more modern on the inside, and it uses the more recent no-home-button design. 64GB is very much not enough storage in the base model so you’re pushed to 256.

  • Or a couple of years old but very capable if you’d prefer to save a couple of hundred quid

  • Is it bad form to bring parts to an LBS and ask them to install them, or is it normal? It's a BB + chainset job beyond my skills / toolset but I can't afford high street RRP on the parts.

  • It’s not bad form as such if it’s just a BB and crankset. What is bad form is when you take a bike in for a service and you give them all the parts, as shops base their service price on selling parts too. Most shops will happily fit a BB and cranks for you.

  • We never had an issue, but let them know what you want to do. As they may be ordering in service parts for your bike and may also charge you slightly more. As has been said some of the profit from services are in the parts used.

  • Well I was rather referring to the difference in models from the last few years, plus the memory capacity. I really don’t much about them, hence the queation

  • I'm using a 3 mobile pay as you go sim. I buy data packs each month and one ran out of mobile data before the data pack had expired.

It was an absolute nightmare to find out how to cancel the current data pack and buy another. I need to do it again and I've spent an hour digging through the website but can't find that golden "cancel order" that I clicked last time.
I guess they deliberately bury this shit so you buy the more expensive "add on"?

Anyone able to help me find the cancel data pack option?

  • Where can I buy dishwasher powder rather than tablets. Because our mains water is very hard we have a water softener so detergents go much further. This means we really do t need to use dishwasher tablets as they are costly and wasteful.

It appears Tesco and other local supermarkets now only stock tablets, I used to get plastic containers of Finish powder.

  • What do people think the etiquette for chasing postage on Ebay is?

    • Sale on evening of Sun 3rd
    • Paid on Tue 5th

    Still not showing as dispatched.

  • Look at your browser history?

  • I'm a bit under the weather and having a massive mental block here.....

I have a graph showing how many people are leaving a project each month and how many people are remaining. Assuming there is one person remaining in the last month - let's say Dec - should it have 1 person remaining or 0?

    MonthLeavingRemaining
    Dec11
    Dec10

Within the month or at the end of the month?

  • I think you login, go to manage services, and then plan settings? I think they refer to data boosts as 'add ons' so you might want to search for that.

Three is absolutely terrible when you run out of data. After 10 odd years of being with them I ran out of patience this summer and switched to GiffGaff, who have much more flexibility and also better roaming options.

  • If it’s a business seller, I’d chase on day 3 after payment unless ad specified sifferent shipping.

  • There are 2 things here - Data packs which run for a month, and Add-ons to boost the data on that pack (and are more expensive)
A few weeks ago I managed to cancel the Data pack, now I can't find it.
It's not on the app at all, only hidden in the website somewhere.

I'll try the customer service number this morning

Edit: Three mobile have just taken the last payment they'll ever get from me. The customer service agent says they've taken away the ability for the customer to cancel data packs. Which is wild, because the only reason to do that is to give them more money for a new one.

  • Yes. That's where I'm getting confused - there isn't actually a correct answer is there? It just needs to be constant across the months.

I fucking hate being ill. It now seems to be an annual event and takes me ages to shake off.

  • Good point.

I got a good deal, so I'm always inclined to give private sellers a bit of grace. As my motivation to pack and post something that sold for under value is also limited.

  • That's so rubbish, though if they operate like that I can imagine a lot of people would lose patience with them.

  • Yeah, nature of the game eh? I would say that the week you’ve waited is plenty reasonable leeway, and I’d now send (or expect to receive, on their side) a polite eBay message saying hi, wonder when the item might be shipped, etc.

  • @Chaley thanks both, would you have any idea of what that kind of job might cost?

Edit - just rang LBS (Lunar Cycles) and they were happy to do it for a rough price of £50. I'd seen someone on Youtube saying they were quoted $250 which gave me a fright.
