Wanted: front and rear adapters for post mount calipers, 160mm rotors, flat mount frame + fork.
Anyone got spare? I'll need post

Sticky pistons on my hope rx4+ (only a couple months old, kind of unimpressed with them so far).
I can't find the hope recommended silicon stuff here, can I use mineral oil? Or any other recommended substitutes?
-
• #8680
As far as I'm aware, it's just silicone lube so any pure silicone oil/lubricant would also work fine.
I live about one mile from the Hunter factory where they make that stuff, and even then I can't buy it unless through a bike shop or as a registered plumber -

Just spotted this now - Too late?
I think I've got some in my workshop - PM me if you still need them -

Use whatever oil the brake uses

You tried Boots yet? ;)

I've still haven't opened the last 4 pad set I bought from them. I don't really use organic pads anymore, are theirs any good? Otherwise I might just sell them

I have a fork designed for a 140mm rotor and a post mount caliper and I want to run 160mm rotors, assuming this is the adapter I need?

Direct mount is the same as post, right?
-
• #8689
yep that adds 20mm PM to PM
-
• #8690
and the 200 to 220 that is on Wiggle for cheap probably won't work because of different caliper sizes or something?
-
• #8691
Probably would work fine, tbh
-
• #8692
that should be okay too I think

I’ve somehow ended up in a disc brake compatibility fever dream, and wanted to see how others would approach…
I’ve:
- an IS mount older CdF I want to build up for touring
- a post mount Ritchey Swiss Cross with older sram rival group/brakes that I want to rebuild with shimano
- a complete Ultegra group with BR-R8070 brakes (and bh-90 hose)
I think my best bet is:
- put the BR-R8070 on the Ritchey with some post to flat adaptors (and look out for GRX derailleur and whatever 11 speed levers)
- buy some SLX BR-M7100 on the CdF with IS to post adapter (and work out what I need to make these work with bh90 - hose is long enough already)
Or
By some second hand hope rx4 as they are pretty
Or
Buy a canyon
Am I missing a more sensible option (apart from buy a more modern frame...)?

SRAM uses DOT fluid, so the Shimano calipers wont work.
-
• #8695
Sorry yeah - I meant find whatever shimano levers work (as in the bike isn’t built at the moment so I am waiting for a working shimano setup)

Buy two sets of straight hose (non-banjo), post-mount callipers and ditch the flat mount ones.
-
• #8698
MT200 is the budget option, plug most "Deore" branded callipers are straight hose.

I want to get a bleed kit for my sram force brakes. At the moment they are the only discs I have but I’d like the kit to be future proof to work with a range of other manufacturers eg Campagnolo/Shimano etc. I don’t imagine I’ll be bleeding brakes that often but I’d rather buy a decent set once than buying cheap stuff that doesn’t work properly. Is the Park Tool the best option or are the kits on “epic bleed” decent?

The epic kits are decent. Personally I have separate kits for SRAM and Shimano (plus campag, magura). That way one is dedicated mineral oil and one DOT fluid so don't need to be cleaned out after every use
Grand thanks. I have loads of stainless bolts, thread lock and a bench grinder so I can save £15 on two bolts
