Don’t think watering cans and watches are really comparable tho.
However, there is the cool story (bro) with the uber-rare stainless steel cased Lange and Sohne watches that a few people have. L&S only make watches in precious metals - gold/rose gold/platinum etc but they made a small number in stainless as loaners for customers to use whilst their own watch was being serviced.
A few crafty buggers realised that these non-production models actually had a higher street value than their precious metal variants so kept the stainless instead!

My point being, a lots of people on here happily spending several thousands on a wristwatch, but balk when their partner asked for an expensive watering can is a little bit weird.
