I’ve had my eldest wearing a swim cap and goggles in the rain this year.

I have a sneaking suspicion I'm going to need to replace the forks on my Yuba Mundo. Are there any recommendations for replacement forks for a bike this size/weight?

Surly or Thorn should have something beefy enough. Their range is big enough that you should be able to find something that matches the existing fork.

Or maybe time to look at some rigid carbon mtb forks to shed some weight!

On my mid-tail I bought trials forks that feel heavy duty enough for the job.

An emergency stop this morning locked up my front brake, the shop I took it into were baffled by it, seemed to think the brake conversion was bad but I'm not sure I agree as it's been fine since it was done over a year ago.

I do remember the guys that did it saying it was a bit of a PITA at the time, and I've read that the V3 Mundo forks are not the most reliable so I'm wondering if something has unexpectedly bent, or if just getting new forks with a more modern brake mount would make it easier to align. I've seen some people have used Surly Troll forks, someone else recommended a tandem fork (maybe one of these?).

Tbh I'm probably getting ahead of myself. I'll ask my LBS what they think as well

Yuba sells replacement forks, but no idea what they changed between generations.

After 2k miles I have finally wondered what tyre pressure I should be using on my load 75. Pressure pendants, can you advise? An 80kg rider and 40kg of kids. Dose a mixture of schools runs and rad dirt jumping.

It all depends on the width of the wheel, the tyre, etc etc.
I mean, the aero gainz are huge.

Does a cover exist that you can put on the connectors of a shimano battery mount when the battery isn't attached or do I just need to bodge something?

If I'm just popping in the shops quickly or locking up somewhere I can see the bike I leave the battery on but if I'm gonna be leaving it locked for a while I'll take the battery with me. If it rains though the prongs get flooded and it's a fucking ballache trying to get it dry and the battery just cuts out if it isn't properly dry.

This might work if you have access to a 3d printer. This guy has printed one and it looks basic but not too bad?

I'll need to do something similar for mine too actually now you mention it. Having it cut out with the lights as well is annoying and kinda dangerous

It wasn't getting much use lately and just used up a lot of space. I'd rather see it used by someone who needs it.

I have however ordered a pizza rack for the Wolverine, to make that a viable option for shopping.

@Chaley, this'll probably be the way I go, was just hoping for something a bit more elegant. Thought shimano would just have a cap for it, pretty shit design flaw imo.

Wouldn't worry about it, replaces a few mounts due to wear from battery moving on the mount.
They are weather sealed well enough from rain and use, what gets water inside is people who use hose pipes and pressure washers on their bikes!

There's no issue when the battery is mounted, it's when I take the battery off when it's locked. It's the fact that I can't get the connectors dry quickly when it's been raining.

Battery cutting out up hill with the kids inside isn't fun.

I don't know if it's just my relentless run of bad luck, but I've had so many punctures in the last month or two. In the Continental contact urbans that went for months without a single puncture. ☹️
I fitted a brand new one a few weeks ago and got a puncture on the first day!

I got four punctures in two days last week, two in each tyre.
I just ordered a continental e-contact plus 2.2 for the front to test out. Way heavier than the contact urban, but not much heavier than the big Ben plus I was using previously...but with the maximum protection rating, so we'll see if they fair any better.

Had my first ever puncture with the contact Urbans yday, across 3 bikes and 2 pushing 3 years! Was a bit of a staple that pushed itself into the tyre. Didn’t go flat straight away, only noticed after coming back to it after parking up at home.

Are you still running them tubeless?

Yeah I'm tubeless, but I keep getting glass cuts which don't always seal, but I can usually plug it. I had a nail the other day too.
It's just the frustration and time lost when I'm rushing. It's always in pissing rain and dark too. 🙄

The econtact is supposed to be especially resistant to glass etc so even if they just get me through the winter and then I swap back to contact urban for the summer when there seems to be less shite getting washed to the sides of the road.

Any hacks/tips for cleaning the chain on a heavy e cargo bike?
