Dawes tandem – £170 ONO
This sale consists of a frameset, wheelset, cockpit(s) components, crankset(s) and mudguards.
We purchased this tandem earlier this year as a backup for our main tandem. The original owners, who we bought the bike from, had barely ridden it – the hairs were still on the original tyres! As such, save for some small paint chips and scratches, the frameset is in excellent condition.
The wheels are a real highlight – Shimano HF07 hubs laced to Alesa/Rigida/Ryde Sputnik rims. 40h with Arai threading on the hub. I was tempted to snaffle these hubs but couldn't bring myself to dissemble a perfectly good wheelset. Includes a pair of Schwalbe Marathon tyres in excellent condition.
The crankset includes the timing chain and a near-new Stronglight 42t chainring.
The captain's cockpit was replaced shortly after purchase with an adjustable rider stem and Ergotec bars. I can supply the original flat bars if preferred. Both seatposts and the eccentric BB move freely.
Two saddles, a drivetrain and brakes are all that are required to get the bike going. I will almost certainly be able to help with some of these parts for a nominal fee, if not for free. Please enquire.
The bike is located in South Bristol (BS3). Collection is strongly preferred but I may be able to box the bike up disassembled.
Full disclosure: This was listed on eBay and Marketplace but I ain't had a nibble. I've removed it from both platforms now. I would be very happy if it went for a bargainous price to a LFGSSer.
