  • An inadvertent burn still works for me 😀

  • We should go and get the rest of the Parthenon

  • And then 'burn' it to make lime for cement?

  • And they say he has no personality.

  • Headline should read

"Tories face electoral oblivion unless performative transportation of a fraction of asylum seekers takes place"
It's a fucking joke. They are now on about basing lawyers out there. On top of the £140m wasted to date it will work out to be one of the most expensive and inefficient dog whistles for right wing populism there is

  • the government prepares emergency legislation that will declare the central African country to be safe

I still can't get my head around seeing this statement. I do not have strong enough cognitive dissonance-fu.

  • Can't wait to see what's been happening in the covid inquir... oh, never mind.

  • Typical self righteous apology sorry things happened they way they did, but no sign of regret of actions.

  • In a personal statement to the Commons, the former home secretary urged Rishi Sunak to build at pace “Nightingale” detention centres and stop all legal challenges using domestic and international laws.

Based on the way Nightingale hospitals were built at pace during the Covid 19 pandemic, she called for detention facilities to be built by the armed forces to hold tens of thousands of asylum seekers who could be deported to Rwanda.

This all sounds very concentration campy.

  • Don't you mean concentration campag?

  • "The Conservative Party faces electoral oblivion in a matter of months"

She still has some valid points amid the nonsense though.

  • Rep!

    Possibly reply of the year!

  • Jenrick resigns?!

  • Preparing a run for PM as a "moderate" Tory?

  • Wild night

  • I'm glad I skim read that as I almost gave the cunt some credit for standing up against the idiocy of pursuing the policy, but it's the exact opposite and I'm not paying enough attention and still too keen to believe people are almost human.

  • Jenrick doesn’t deserve this post, let alone a headline.

  • The fucking Tory's obsession with the Rwanda farce is mind boggling.

How can anyone think that implementing this demented and massively expensive "solution" will deter any poor desparate souls from attempting to reach our shores? There's only space for 100 people in Rwanda so about 1/10th of a summer's days crossings.

These people are risking their lives getting in the dinghies. The euro millions winning odds of being one of the 100 to go to Rwanda will be the last thing on their minds. Ever.

Obviously it's all a distraction from all the sinister shit they're pulling on a daily basis including the fact that they've entirely created the immigration "problem" in the first place.

But why can't even the most eager of red meat recipients see that this scheme won't work and is a massive smoke screen and trojan horse to further diminish our rights? And given that it's a massive political embarrassment that is imploding the party in front of all who looks on, why do they continue to pursue what is clearly a self destruct button?

I'm just sick to death of this lunatic bunch of greedy clowns destroying all that's good about this country whilst the average person struggles to feed themselves.

Sorry, bad day and needed to vent.

  • Greaat vent, you are certainly speaking for me here.

All true, also what happened to that other piece of performative showboating (pun intended) the Bibby Barge?

All of this populist nonsense is costing a fortune, the costs of which would probably balance the budgets of a dozen or more local authorities which will end up serving s.114 notices before the end of the financial year

  • There's people onboard now but lower max capacity than the government originally wanted which makes it, on average, more expensive than hotels. Cheaper was supposed to be the point... it's almost like the government does stuff to be cruel but it has no purpose.

Oddly, even the promo materials from the owners of the Bibby Stockholm make it look horrible (whilst using the word "luxury").... https://www.bibbymarine.com/bibby-stockholm/

  • I think it's in exactly the same ... boat as Brexit. They (rightly or otherwise) believe that getting it done and being able to say "we got immigration done" is enough to sway some part of the voting public, and is easier than actually trying to resolve immigration

  • If the Tory's really do want to run on 'Get the Boats done' Its a gift to the Labour party.

Sunak didn't have a single answer for Starmer at PM questions. He can get away with that in parliament. But come a general election and the debates he won't get away with it, not answering the question about how much money has spent and its going to cost moving forward, how many people are going to be sent and how many are going to be coming back from Rwanda etc.

This policy was only thrown out there as part of operation Save Big Dog.
