  • I don’t think it is, personally. I have Dura Ace on one bike, but I fit 105 (or entry level SRAM) cassettes.

    Are the chain rings worn or are you simply getting rid of the notorious Ultegra ones?

  • Good to know, thank you. I'll stick to 105 then. The cassette is definitely a bit worn, the chain rings have significantly fewer miles on them due to switching cranksets since I bought the groupset but thought I might as well do the lot at the same time.

  • You might find the rings are fine.

  • Generally your chain wears first, if you change it before it's too worn the cassette will be fine for a few chains, if not then you'll need to do both together, if you leave it way too long you'll wear the chainrings too but the wear usually spread over more teeth than the cassette so it can take longer/more chains.
