  • Im having a customer dispute, my shop did a refund for a customer. They are saying they did not receive it.
Of course I have receipts etc my end but they are refusing to accept they have been refunded.
It was over the phone, all details matched and were verified (it wouldnt go through otherwise?)
Im very cautious to preserve the reputation Ive built up, especially after the rep the shop had.

Ive no experience in this whatsoever.

Would the Shops bank statement show the customers name on the refund? Im assuming it would be a transaction, showing up similar to a personal account.

I dont want to look stupid if I ask accounts, theyre horrid at the best of times. The customer wont provide statements.

  • hub play? give it a wobble. sorry if that’s obvious

  • Sometimes refunds can take a few (working) days to clear and sometimes the refunder name might not match the vendor name exactly?

  • Thanks mate, I've explained that to the customer but it has been a few days, tomorrow will be day 4.
I'm the Vendor. Can I see who, by name, I've paid?

  • The normal time frame for refunds to be processed is 7-10 days. We used to have to deal with this all the time. It’s a real ache. I’d only refund with the card reader so I could send/give or WhatsApp them a photo of the receipt straight away. And still they would think you were up to something. Tell them you’ll contact the bank etc and string them along, the money will turn up.
Oh you’ll normally only see card or account numbers, not names.

  • Anyone had any personal experience with zipwater magic, fancy, golf club taps?

  • Think you can see the account number you sent it too, or the return of the payment.

Think it depends on the card company reader such as sum up.

  • I might have missed something, but if your accounts team won't help or can't help with this issue which is clearly in their wheelhouse, then you may need to get a new accounts team... :)

  • There's one at work I think. Hot or cold but not hot enough for a decent brew.

  • Any interactions with the maintenance team? Might end up looking after them if a job interview goes to plan but there are some mixed reviews about the company online.

  • All I can tell you is that we have them at work, and when they break, they seem to stay broken for quite some time.

I don’t know whether that’s down to Zip’s CS / maintenance crew or our Facilities team…

  • I'm going to replace my cassette (and maybe chainrings) in spring I reckon. Would I notice any difference between a 105 and Ultegra version? The weight difference seems minimal (and isn't that important to me anyway) so is the performance any different? Alternatively, is there anyone else making an 11 speed 11-28t cassette that's worth looking at?
Same question for chainrings I suppose, is it worth spending the extra on a fancier version of a set of 34-50t chainrings or should I stick to 105?

  • They're in and out quickly when there's been problems, infrequent so not sure if it's the same person each time. They've always been polite and just crack on, but I don't get a sense of the company from the time they're here or the work done.

    Hope your interview goes well!

  • Only difference is weight saving.

  • Thanks! I'm not sure that saving the weight saving is worth the extra money then.

  • I don’t think it is, personally. I have Dura Ace on one bike, but I fit 105 (or entry level SRAM) cassettes.

Are the chain rings worn or are you simply getting rid of the notorious Ultegra ones?

  • Can't remember for sure but the Ultegra might have an alloy spider, which will be less likely to notch your freehub

  • 105 has an alu spider too, the finish isn't as nice but I'd say they work exactly the same, and better than any non Shimano options, same with the chainrings.

  • My dentist has said I should get an electric toothbrush. There seems to be a big variation in prices for them, what's worth going for?

  • Cheers for zipwater insight, seems like it's the regular maintenance stuff rather than when stuff breaks down, so hopefully all fine.

  • I used to use an entry level Braun mechanical/rotary. More recently been using a Phillips Sonicare (HX 6220-05), which feels like it gives a better result (smoother teeth) than the Braun, and was around £80.00 in Sainos, although I think they may be a bit cheaper now.

  • +ltc try SunRace, that said, Shimano could even cheaper given the discounts going around.

  • I gotchu fam, I’ve had 4 or 5 different ones.

Oral B Pro Expert, should be £10-£15. Uses AA batteries, which is desireable because when non-replaceable batteries fail on more expensive options, they’re non-replaceable. You can get rechargeable AAs anyway. I used one for several years until the motor gave out; the rest lasted 18 months at the most.

Pressure sensitivity is a useless gimmick: check with your dentist, mine recommends just enough pressure to touch the bristles to the tooth surface, let the tool do the work. Timers and varying speeds are also useless unless you’re prone to massively over brushing.

  • Ask your dentist?

  • But we all know 9 out of 10 dentists recommend..
