  • Not sure how I feel about the crumbly top!

Just finished a deck of Co-op finest as they usually rank well against other supermarkets. Pretty decent 7/10, would eat again but would also not go out of way to get more. Need to get some M&S ones next.

  • Sainos Plant Pioneers - don't bother. bang average.

Greggs still winning for me so far.

  • Sainos Plant Pioneers

Same for the Tesco equivalent, not worth it.

  • noted. definitely won't bother with those

  • Tesco mini mincers: as with all mini mince pies these have an inadequate mince to pastry ratio and are fairly dry and lacking in flavour. The kids can eat these.

  • The kids can eat these.

Woah, they must be really bad!

  • The kids get those because I get these.

Forge Bakery, knocking it out of the park for the third year in a row. If there’s a finer mince pie available in Sheffield then I’d love to hear about it because these are superb. To look at, you’d think there’s too much of a sugar dusting on top, but it balances out perfectly with a sharp and impeccably boozy mincemeat. Pastry is on point, just the right level of crumbly. 10/10.

  • It didn't take much away tbh.

Coop shortcrust jobbies yesterday went down well at work.

  • Double Greggs day so far, might end up triple by this evening.

  • Double Greggs

Is that 2 pies or 2 boxes? If the former, you're just not trying.

  • I'm easing myself in.

  • M&S all butter puff pastry mincers just arrived in the office - only one in so far but good first impressions, filling maybe a touch dry due to the abundance of flaky pastry (excellent layering there) - would be best served warm I reckon.

  • today's harvest was a 6 deck of Waitrose all butter mince pies made with love.

I found it hard to determine with the evidence available, whether they were in fact made with love but i guess I'll take their word for it.

at £4 they are quite a bit more than the Sainers / Tesco equivalent offering. The pastry is very good for a factory made effort, nice crunch, crumbly and sweet. the filling is nice and tangy but zero booze kick.

solid 7/10 - would mince again.

  • fortitude ‘bakehouse’. i think fortitude refers to what you need to muster as you pay. nonetheless, i minced and couldn’t believe what I was eating. fantastic. currently looking for a sugar daddy.

  • I’m away until after Christmas. Who here has the fortitude to collect and resist eating for two and a half weeks?

  • I would when I get there but do you think they'd last?!

We need a proper review of Fortitude with pics before I believe the hype tbh.

Do they not have mincers in Oz?

  • Do they not have mincers in Oz?

Yeah - served upside down in pea soup. Fucking barbarians.

Since Fortitude has become TikTok famous then then queues are often fairly nuts. That said I think it’s still a favourite.

  • If it’s a trad short-crust mincer I’m sure it’d be fine. The supermarket ones last for months.

There are actually loads of fancy bakeries doing them in Sydney. Still waiting for Cow and the Moon to drop their Christmas pudding gelato chef kiss

  • Local bakery 6 pack. Heavenly pastry, and well filled.

  • Please provide more deets dude

  • They're called Heidi's, based in Emsworth down on the south coast. Think it was about £5 for a box of 6, so on the steeper side, but utterly delicious.

  • Puff pastry is shit at the best of times. Get that away from my pies.
