  • The reason I have a fast car is almost exclusively to overtake the national trust visiting jazz driving population we are plagued with in these parts. Take that as a no, I guess.

  • U ok Tracey Chapman ;)

How about an xjr? Only cos I like them.

  • But it is the forum car of choice ;)

  • Heater didn't kick on Saturday during my 2hr drive in -4deg. That was fun.

Coolant levels seem fine, everything electronically seems perfect.
Annoyingly there's no engine temp gauge on the dash, but the car drove great.

    Likely a thermostat fault?

  • Finally made it in the Golf Club so it was worth it :D

  • Blocked heater matrix? Was it working before? Do the water pipes near the top of the rad feel hot

    What car?

  • Sold!

  • Didn't think it was worthy as I just thought it funny. But what do I know?

  • As in a spare bottle?

  • Oh any one heard about the film race for glory, Audi Vs Lancia comes out 5th Jan?

  • Lolz, my rejection got rejected. Arbitration here I come...
Don't get me wrong, I love the challenge, it's just further that its fuelling my hatred for my car... I bloody hope it doesn't come back.

  • Looks like I may not be getting the FIL's Merc after all. Not right away anyway. I rarely drive my Suby XV now that I've got the ute and I've also found a cash buyer for it. Trouble is I haven't been able to find anything I like that doesn't cost a shitload more than I'll get for the Suby.

Until now! 2001 Subaru Forester STI II. Imported JDM goodness. STI!!

Am I mad to even consider it? I love it. And it's only $A3k more than what I'll get for the XV. I can live with that.

There are two, a $15k example with 180k kms on the clock and this one for $17k with 99k kms.

  • PS The sensible thing to do is forget all about this silly idea and just keep my now reliable XV which I've put a new radiator, valve body, tyres, etc into in the last twelve months.

  • you said yourself you rarely drive the XV anyway. so why bother going to hassle of replacing it. not that I don't have some love for that supert Forester

  • I don't drive it cuz it isn't very exciting, it's my old daily. I've got to have two cars (because tax bollocks) so I would love a second car that I really look forward to driving. Even if it's only to the take the dog to the beach or go for a drive in the bush.

    Not a euph BTW.

  • ah well that is easy. stop fucking about and get this Forester. and fuck the FiLs Merc if ever that does come up.

  • Could you name and shame who these muppets are so we don't buy from them?

Oh I shall be shouting from the roof tops should I not get a satisfactory resolution. There is much more that I cannot disclose at this moment in time..

Im equally surprised that they didn't just try and soften the blow with some form of compensation. There view is they have plowed £4.5k in parts in to the car... great, should have done that before I bought it.

2 outcomes for me would be acceptable: I keep the car and they offer in region of 10% comp on purchase price - gives me a bit of cash to cover depreciation if I decide I genuinely detest the thing now. OR they give me a full refund and I walk away never to buy a car from this franchise of dealerships.
Imagine if I get it back and something else goes wrong...

  • It's a nice Merc tho', proper hairdresser Outrun machine, silver, obvs.

  • damn - that sounds super painful. sorry to hear it but hope an amicable solution is found

  • Just received notification from TfL that my application to ULEZ scrap my aged '51-reg diesel Espace has been accepted.

  • aged '51-reg diesel Espace

Proper virility marker. How do you follow up such a signifier?

  • They have now rejected my rejection of their rejection of my original rejection.
Tomorrow will be critical in the outcome. Refund or suffer!

  • Yeah after all the dealer has paid out and you have proof that the car had the fault when the bought it.

    Fingers crossed. Bon chance.

  • Just messaged the dealership, let's see how we go. I'm a bit frothy at the thought of owning this. 🤤
