We have to trade/market a bit on our UK-made status too. But, yes, agreeing with the point I think you are making - manufacturers shouldn't just trade on the 'made in XXXXX' with the higher costs that entails without bringing something else to the table - Like environmental and ethical assurances, living wage promises etc etc.
