Looking like a moist ol' day out tomorrow. Looking forward to it though.
On my tod now which is my normal mode anyway, head down, get it over will fast as possible.
I'm just hoping car parking is easy and obvious, will have to leave early from Hexham.

If it's still at the castle place, then parking should be ok. It's been a few years, but last time I arrived later than I hoped and had no issues.

So, the chap on the fixed MTB. On here? Kudos if so.

Was a brutal day out in the wind, rain and sandblasting of eyeballs if you dared hold a wheel for a few seconds. No need to add an SS MTB to the mix....much kudos to that guy.

Seen some photos from this year - looks like a toughie! I know three independent people who went up intending to do the 200km & doing the 130km one, eek.

Is this event actually fun? Riding endless fire roads through endless Sitka in April sounds a bit of a grind.

I enjoyed it for the two years I did it - I think there is a novelty associated with actually doing the kind of riding gravel is sold as. Worn off for me now though, for I have become accustomed to the mud bath.

This one turned into type III fun for me, never again.

I enjoyed it too as a ride, but was nice to go to such a lovely location for a few days.
All the pics I've seen from this year look a lot more 'serious' though than a few years back, which was alreadt 'serious' enough for me.

I’ve done it a bunch of times and probably wont do it again.
For less driving/faff I could go and ride around Aberfoyle/Callander which actually have interesting terrain and good views. Although I will admit there is something fun about riding through the woods with loads of other people.

Yeah once is plenty. I guess for a lot of the Sooth Moothers its spectacular down there but the novelty was to duck n dive with lots of folk and get it ticked off. Would do another similar event but dont need to do the same one twice.
Hope the two blokes who sent each others faces flying into the ground before the timing had even started had a good day in the end. Saw a few belter crashes.

Ha if you can get me a ticket I’ll drive if that’s the angle here..?
A friend and I are doing it. Staying in Bellingham. I'll be on 40c Nano up front, 37c Riddler on the back. Can't remember any techy sections from the two times I've done it before, but I didn't do it last year.
