I have always been a macwanker for computing and consoles for gaming but I've just built my first gaming/family PC. The amount of useful stuff on YouTube these days made it a lot easier than it might have been. It all turned on first time and hasn’t caught fire (yet).
Basically an i5 13400F and a 4070 founders edition, air cooled in a small ITX case. Happily runs Overwatch 2 in 1440p on ultra settings at 200+fps and stays below 70°C. Partspicker says the CPU cooler isn’t compatible but that’s only the case if you have the adjustable spine set for a really fat three slot graphics card. With the 4070 FE fitted there’s plenty of space for a 65mm cooler.
Was hoping for bl*ck friday to do us a favour with some of the parts but apart from the monitor, motherboard and peripherals (which were all 40-60% off) there were only small discounts to be had. Still, should be good for a while and the kid can do his homework on it…
