Chances are it’ll be 1.6mm gauge bar. That’s what the overwhelming majority of stuff is pierced at, especially scaffolds etc.
1.2mm is also common but usually for nostril/ munroe/other ‘cosmetic’ piercings.
I had well over a dozen holes as a nipper and every one of them was a 1.6
