This thread should be renamed HHSWB. What do you guys ride in the summer?
-
• #528
Life is short and brutal.
Why ride bad and slow bikes anytime you have the choice not to. -
• #529
Hip Hop Winter Bikes essentially. The HHSRB where mudguards are a must.
That's what the thread is for!

I don't think I ever even put my bike in here after starting this thread for inspiration on what to build.
Currently in bits unfortunately. Probably no winter road riding for me this year. I'll rebuild it next year
Don't @ me in bdhu

A classic! I spent a couple of winters riding in stupid weather on one of these

Seeing this again makes me want to fire up BikeCad
-
• #536
I'd have a matching gravel frame done in a heartbeat if I had the spare peas
-
• #537
i think its well proportioned except for the catastrophic seat tube angle
-
• #538
It's called fashion hunny, look it up

How’s that Cannondale getting on? -

Not 'progressive' enough?

Doh! I'll skulk back to the Talbot in the classifieds and then realise that I'll probably ride about 60km over Christmas on the road and what's the point in another bike. Then press my nose against the glass here.

Proper winter bike.
Everyone else's summer bullshit bikes aka "I don't ride in winter" golf club / buyer bullshit can get ta fuck.
-
• #545
Nailed it.
Basically, if your frame costs more than a six pack of craft beer, it's not a winter bike. Go back and try again.
-
• #546
That's bollocks. It's likely the bike you are going to ride the most throughout the year, so get something decent rather than riding some old piece of shit.
-
• #547
Well, you might. I'm a tightarse (and who specified old?). That's why I like Kinesis stuff for year round abuse. I don't cry when I drop an allen key on a £700 frame or ride the cheapest Shimano BB through a flooded road. I only took the Shiv out in bad conditions when it was a race or leading to a race. I didn't just flog it day in day out. That was what the PX was for.
I did shitloads of miles on my Ribble Audax, that was the wrong size, before giving it away. Think they were less than £100 new. If you're that fussy about your bikes, maybe you should stick to the turbo in winter. :-*

And ruin them with sweat???
-

Much support Hippy. I thought the reason we rode fixed gear in winter was
the saving of expensive kit for lovely summer days down the lanes. -

I thought the reason you rode fixed gear was to be able to say that you rode fixed gear
That shoe lace is premium.
