• I'm getting insurance quotes on an old VW Passat, it just failed MOT on these. What's likely repair bill? I'm guessing £100 for tyre but not clue on the other one. Keen to have idea before I approach repair garage or agree to buy (private sale). Thanks.

  • Second item will be a new drop-link. Not much for a pattern part, but labour and wheel alignment will bump it up.

  • You can work out the exact cost of the tyres: https://www.blackcircles.com/

I'll admit I've been slack before on replacing old tyres with plenty of tread but are starting to crack. But if someone's driving a car with the fabric coming through that's pretty extreme.

I would expect all 4 tyres would need replacing, and be prepared for there not being a usable spare - can imagine a passat has a full size spare.
