  • Would anyone like 8gb of ram for a 2011 Macbook Pro / a charger cable? I've got two that I'm going to recycle (but I'm going to keep the SSDs)

  • Having a bit of a clearout and have two 15" G4 Powerbooks and a Core2Due MacbookPro (non with a HDD in them and admittedly in fairly shabby condition) to scrap - are there places that take them for parts? Happy to let them go for free but would rather see if Mac enthusiasts that work with old stuff are around rather than simply scrap them all..!

  • May I dibs the charger please?

Need to check if it’s compatible with my old Macbook Pro later this evening.

    Will PM. Thanks!

  • Sure thing, someone has dibsed one of them so you will end up with either the short ratty one, or the long US plug.

  • Anyone use a watch to monitor/record their blood pressure?

  • As far as I know the apple watches can't do blood pressure, you'd need a dedicated device for this.

Supposed to come in Apple Watch 10. No idea how good it will be. Cuff bp measure devices are generally not as good as arm ones.

  • Anyone got a spare USB-C MacBook charger they would be willing to sell on?

  • Smart watches such as the Xiaomi supposed to do blood pressure. Are they accepted as accurate by the British heart Foundation? Best way to check is see with them.

  • Need a bit of help.. Not an apple user.. although 2 of my kids are, but my nephew who is 8 and has ADHD and autism is mad for buying broken old phones.. he's given me 4 old iPhone's in a hope to get them going.. 4S, 5, and 2 x 6's.. they are are locked as he buys them off ebay for cheap.. one needs a battery.. is there any way to wipe and get them going for him??

  • Is the Ram still available?

  • Is it still a good idea to buy 2nd gen (non-pro) AirPods right now?

They're really cheap right now (black friday deal), and I'd like to gift them to somebody who

    • doesn't need active noise cancelling at all
    • will only use them for making calls (not for music etc.)
    • is very happy with the fit of the classic (wired) Apple earpods

..so feature wise they (the 2nd gen) seem to be a good fit actually, and I've gathered from reading reviews that they're literally a better fit (compared to the 3rd gen) for people who liked the traditional earbuds.
Can people who used both / all three models chime in on this please?
Same with (not audio, but) voice qualiy -can anybody say how they compare in this regard?

To be frank, the person who I'd like to present are still quite happy with the old wired ones, alas the microphonics (them constantly rubbing / dangling against the cable / mic, or wrapping their scarf around the mic so you can't hear them any more etc.) is driving me fucking nuts..

  • Are pads repairable? Seem to sense a finger to move the pointer but not multiple fingers of clicks

  • For the money they sell for 2nd hand id say no.

  • Peak Design is running a BF sale with cases for all previous iPhone models a certain percent off.

  • Fuck this stupid gesture recognition nonsense that apparently also does its funky fireworks and shit without asking in my last Zoom call, I hope whoever shoves features like this down people's throats steps in dog shit daily, ffs!

  • anyone seen any good deals for iphone 13 pro's 256gb preferred?
I'm in the market for one, thinking refurb, but need the battery health to be decent.
If you've seen any let me now.

  • What 32” or larger display would people recommend? On the cheaper side please

  • Cheap for you or actually cheap?

    Assume it's for work?

  • Recommends LG 5k for the millionth time. Go retina people! Go retina and prosper!

  • I want the 38" LG 5k - £1,500 though. And work aren't paying for it. I'll stick with my BenQ 38 for now.

  • For work, so nothing more than piping the desktop from my M1 MBA onto a bigger screen to answer email, give PowerPoint presentations (and make them) and sit on lots of Zoom calls.

And, bear in mind that there’s a multiplier effect where I now live- cheap in the UK is usually not cheap here.

I’ve been using a 31.5” 4k LG which was quite good HDMI rather than USB-C which is annoying.

  • If that's the only annoying factor, it would be cheaper to buy a USB-C PD dock and carry on using the same screen.
