  • Has anyone done any form of official training with a coffee shop/roaster ? I know some run workshops. I'm interested in the business side as well as being a hands on barista. Basically I'm thinking about doing a mobile set up at some point as there is a big gap down here in wild Wiltshire and looking for some workshops to do over official certification and interested if anyone has done something similar.

Really I'm just looking for an excuse to convert an old land rover.

  • I did training a long time ago with Square Mile. Looking back on it, I'm sure you could get a similar amount of knowledge from YouTube these days.

I'm not sure how useful it would be going to a place, depending on the knowledge you already have, but we were fortunate to get them to come to us as part of an install.

It sounds obvious but what was really beneficial was having someone else showing the "proper" outcome on the machine we were using, and then being able to replicate that with feedback.

  • Dark Horse Coffee/Horsebox Coffee in Oxfordshire do barista courses and roasting courses. I've been on an introduction to Roasting course they ran and it was really worthwhile!

  • This is well worth reading if you're thinking about setting up a coffee business.
