  • Thought I'd start a little thread for this one...

Picked up a CAAD10 with issues via this forum for not a lot with a plan to bring it back to life.

Looks decent enough in the pic below but had mismatched forks, bubbling paint on the frame (quite bad around bottle bosses), seized bolts that required drilling out, completely shot headset bearings, perishing shifter hoods and tape, a delaminated 6800 chainset, and mismatched wheels one of which had issues with hub bearings and so on.

But underneath it was still a CAAD10 - and best of all it had a decent functioning 6870 Di2 groupset - which combined with a few wheelsets and spare parts I have to hand (and a well timed shimano recall on delaminated chainsets...) means I could bring this back to life for not a lot of extra outlay.

Below is an as bought shot, then a sneaky peak of how it currently looks - more posts to come as I build it up...

  • Oooof...that after paintwork is great! Looking forward to following this build.

  • Looks great. I had the same idea a while back, wanted to spray my caad the caad 4 candy apple.

Where did you get it sprayed? How did you colour match fork, were they wet sprayed together?

  • Fun!!!

    full custom paintjob

    Love this forum.

Looks fantastic by the way - keen to see the end result!

  • Hey thats my old bike! Bought it off here 5 years ago and rode it happily till I sold it to your seller. Wicked paintjob!

  • 😂😂😂

I had to laugh so hardly

Awesome project - i heard saecos are cool af nowadays

  • Paint job is splendid. Look forward to seeing how this progresses

  • Paint job was Mario vaz who lives around the corner from me - a single colour so not an expensive custom paint job partic(!) The decals were a tenner online.

Just waiting for a new upper headset bearing to arrive and then I think I can get going with the build.

First job is to finish fixing one of the di2 shifters where the buttons won’t return without pushing them back - so will dump the whole cassette with one press. Have a donor shifter from a crash wreck I’m going to pinch the buttons from.

  • Nice build - i had some of those wheels at one point - they were amazing and seemed to have zero friction in the hubs - on downhills if I freewheeled I just kept getting faster and faster...

  • Shifter mended…
