  • GE timing may well depend on whether or not Sunak goes for a damage limitation strategy (yes, I know...). I wouldn't rule out an election at the first hints that their vote share is trending up, in the desperate hope they can avoid a 97 style annihilation (or possibly worse).

A more interesting question is, after the surely inevitable and heavy defeat, do the far-right, 30p-Lee, Cruella headbangers totally take over, or do they move back towards more central ground?

  • A really heavy defeat and Boris would be eyeing a return. Boris wins against any of Braverman, Badenoch, Hunt, Mordaunt etc. they would be desperate at that stage. His 'I got Brexit done' is obvious nonsense, but it is one of the few things they can crow about over the last few years.

  • Not sure whether he'd want to take the hit to his earnings/do actual work though.

Also can't see him being interested unless there is a decent chance of winning.

  • He's not an MP, and won't be after the next election. So he doesn't have an immediate route to being Tory leader again and whichever cunt wins the race to lead the party after the election, will make damn sure Johnson doesn't get selected for any by-election.
