  • Exactly. Plus if levido only starts on Jan 1st they'd need a few months of ramping time.

A May election is more likely

  • Why would they introduce a reduction in NI coming in from the 6th of January, then have an election before it hit the pay packets of the vast majority of people?

Because you'd say vote for us or you won't get the saving?

  • I dunno just passing info on 💁

  • Because they are shit at politics?

  • My guess is 2nd May it's Local and Mayoral elections, which is traditional.

Tories could take a right beating, look unelectable then so not a good springboard for a GE. If they don't go then, it's October? That dosen't have any suprise factor. I'd favour May

They'd have to be insane to hang on until Jan '25, declare Martial Law etc.

  • That's not when the next GE is jan '25? Surely not

  • I can't imagine they'll go for a winter election. Not great for their core vote and not great for the door knockers.

  • From memory the last possible date GE has to happen by is 25th Jan 2o25. Can go any date before then. They can go into 2025 but it's insanity to do so in my view.

  • Something I thought was quite convincing was that Cameron wouldn't have come back without the assurance of no snap GE.

Plus it's a bit of a risk having a GE in the middle of winter when your electorate is slowly dying.

  • Fucksake, I thought next October was a date in the diary. We’ve potentially got another year odd of these cunts! Wild

  • Given their membership are predominantly older people, a winter election for them is very foolish, as they'll struggle to get enough people out on the streets to leaflet and door knock. That still matters.

  • They get an election leaflet delivered every day on the front cover of the Daily Express.

  • Depends on rishi's priorities. If it's only the india trade deal to feather the family nest then politics doesn't apply.

Devils advocate here but lack of door knockers may play into tory hands. Nobody wanted to do it for them in the by-elections so cold weather may just reduce labour/lib/green numbers making it look like a wider issue rather than a Tory one?

  • Got to think where the students will be in some of what they think will be the key marginals too. It worked for them in Uxbridge (albeit not planned).

  • As I understand it's just Isaac Lavido moving from number 10 to party HQ. I think there waiting to see if we all wet our pants over an extract £35 a mouth from NI cut(why else would there rush it through for Jan) and if there polling improves even a little bit they'll go in May if not they can kick the can down the road again.

Its only going to get worse for them, inflation is going to go back up more and more people getting screwed on there mortgages, maybe better weather in the channel next year and boat numbers go up again.

  • If that is their strategy then it’s no surprise they are polling at around 25%.

  • Something I thought was quite convincing was that Cameron wouldn't have come back without the assurance of no snap GE.

Why? He's got nothing to lose, he's not an MP so he's got no seat to lose and he got a Baronetcy out of it.

  • he got a Baronetcy out of it

Isn't that there for the asking for any former PM anyway? In tradition, if not law?

  • Yeah he would have got into the house of lords at some point.

I'm sure I read somewhere that he'd always fancied a go at being foreign secretary. There'll be some dodgy money making scheme going on, he could just be a foreign agent for China.

  • Rishi Sunak showing off his man of the people credentials

(It does appear that he was told to do this but it is still very funny.)

  • Was just gonna post that video of Sunak. You can tell he’s never got his hand dirty.

    Absolute Buffon

  • How is it relevant if he can use a hammer or not, wouldn't it be better if he just wasn't a Tory cunt?

  • Remember, this is a country where eating a bacon sandwich messily can disqualify you from the PM job.

  • Just shows the dire state the country is in is well deserved. That's the problem if all the electorate can do is swing a hammer.

  • Just call me Ed comes from an even more privileged background than Sunak.
