    Plus it's a bit of a risk having a GE in the middle of winter when your electorate is slowly dying.

    Why? He's got nothing to lose, he's not an MP so he's got no seat to lose and he got a Baronetcy out of it.

    Barony rather than a baronetcy. He wouldn't get out of bed for a mere baronetcy.

    Missed this.

    Because being foreign sec for 5mins before having to work on campaigning isn't exactly the prestigious statesman role Cameron would have been after. Like Hunt he'll have assumed he'd only have this role until the GE.
