+1 claybrook.

They look fantastic. Very jelly.

The price of the tiles was comparable to ones from Uk shops and Morocco was where they met or something so held sentimental value, so a great decision imo.

Thanks!
It’s still a couple of weeks before all the slates are up, the powdercoated roof edge trim is on and the windows are in, so no idea how it’ll ultimately look, but I’m aiming for something like this:

Anyone want one of these? Free, collection in Mortlake

Yeah that’s going to look fantastic, the window trim and the warm roof especially. Can’t remember why my builders said they couldn’t do a warm roof but I think it’s a detail that makes most the difference.
Edit yours will actually look nicer than that example as your trims and windows are nicer.

I've got family in Morocco. I did look in to shipping some tiles over but it's silly money, you get some nice tiles for cheap then spend £400 getting them in the country.

Trying to find a supplier of Formica laminated ply for a kitchen worktop that's not eye-wateringly priced. It needs to be over 3000mm. Laminate and Ply do it but it's coming in at over £1k incl VAT and delivery. Morland sell the same for about £400 but they only go up to 2440mm length board, so would have to have a join in the worktop which is probably going to look rubbish. Any ideas much appreciated.
Also I know it's been asked before, but any recommendations for decent suppliers of birch ply in general these days?

we used the morland stuff, got some RAL matched Unika Colorfil to blob across the joints (U-shape kitchen, two joints) and it's not very noticeable once you start using the kitchen day to day (though might be indicative of how messy our house is...)
seem runs left to right where the kettle is in this pic (tarted up as it was taken to send to the tiler).for other bits of ply, we went with PlyDirect, no qualms to report.

Hahaha, that's the same line always on that show.
They locked eyes in a tile bazaar in morocco and it was love at first sight.

• #8517
Ha, yeah fair point! Think I have heard that one before!

Love that kitchen! Which kitchen manufacturer did you go for again?
-
• #8519
thanks very much! tbh every time i see someone else's I get an ah crap why didn't we do THAT feeling..!
Cabinets are all from DIY kitchens, it was the Carrera painted range - the colour is 'Cashmere' which i still think on their renders has a warmer pink tone than the generic grey it looks IRL - the photo above is quite heavily edited/white-balanced to high hell if that wasn't obvious already :)

DIYkitchens renders are pants for colours, but they have a customer photos section which you can sort by colour which gives a much better idea of what the colours actually look like..

next time..!
I jest, we did get the sample so no excuses really - there was just only so much decision making we could be arsed with dealing with at the time.

Haha yeah sorry wasn't directly @ you, but just useful tidbit generally.
We had a couple of wildly different aesthetic ideas, and hadn't even considered the colour we want based on their renders until we looked at actual customer photos and figured it might be the right thing. Its nice to see various light levels/temperatures in people's photos as you can get a better idea of how the colour changes in different light, and big is always better than sample! (Although their samples are fairly substantial to be fair)

I would like a shelf or something to put soaps and shampoos on in our new shower. What isn't shit?

Kitchen and hallway floor: engineered wood or laminate? We're messy cooks and ride bikes in all conditions so the floor will have a rough life, which seems to have pros and cons each way. not a 40k kitchen but it is over 20 now so I'm battling sunk cost fallacy vs doing it right doing it once
Try Claybrook. They have KitKat tiles that are similar: https://www.claybrookstudio.co.uk/katakana-small-matt-mosaic.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2qPB0prWggMVFMftCh2ijQsQEAQYAiABEgJSX_D_BwE
