Rivoli
As we all did. The Rivoli and similar chain tools have a secondary anvil position for doing the final clearancing operation in a controlled manner (about an eighth of a turn) rather than the "few sharp taps" @clubman has to employ due to the primitiveness of his old tool🙂

BITD I used to break and rejoin chains with a Rivoli chain tool....
