The steamroller is getting there, I took it out for a proper spin over the weekend. It’s so satisfying building a bike up from scratch.
The steamrollers are amazing bikes, so versatile both off road and on road. Great bikes!

Hello everyone, after taking quite some inspiration from this page I build myself a Steamroller a bit more than a year ago. Using it mostly for my job as a socialworker I already rode it for 8500 km. So a few days ago it was finally time to rebuild the wheels as 650b, something I wanted to do shortly after building the original 700c set. I had to wait (and save money for the mudguards..). I really like how it turned out and its a real joy to ride wether its tarmac, gravel or singletrails. Rims are Ryde Andra 35, gearing is 44x18, tires are 42mm Gravelking slicks with tubes (and tubeless milk).

Very nice with the mudguards.
Honjo are not cheap, but they are the greatest.

That’s a lovely build, bravo! Really like the way the fender supports are mounted to the rack that’s a cleaver move.
How are the rear fenders supports mounted ?

Thank you all for your kind words!
The bike incorporates everything I know and learned to like and love about bicycles, so I‘m pleased other people like it as well.
In everyday mode it has a good lock mounted to the frame and a bag I sewed myself on the rack. The rear fenders are mounted on the inside of the mounts so I can use the chain tensioner as desired (but have yet to cut the screw a bit to do so).

My streamroller passed 50k miles this morning. I’ll continue to ride it until the end of March ish, hopefully see off the worst of the weather.
It's then off to Argos cycles for a paint job, some proper fender mounts, another bottle cage mount, perhaps a mid fork rack mount. It’s likely to cost more than the frame was originally.

Exactly what i was going to do.
It’s likely to cost more than the frame was originally.
Why i didn't end up doing it. If i had the frame again i would definitely make the investment and i was nowhere near your mileage. I think there's also room to move up the brake bridge a little to allow for bigger tyres under the guards and still be able to use a standard drop caliper if you wanted to.

Yeah, that's very much on the want list, 35s and fenders would be great, I'll see what they say. Currently I can just about get away with 32s which is alright.

‘Roller owners I have a question.
What is the largest tyre you can fit front and rear? I’m not worried about brakes.
I’m considering getting one, but only if I can get bigger tyre on it than my SJS (700x41c or 650bx45)
Cheers Ta. -

Not yet, I was waiting for it stop raining for a bit, so might never happen at this rate.
I like that a lot. Big fan of the subtle purple and green accents.
