  • Testing things. The worktop needs to be raised a little otherwise my fat fingers can’t grip the drawers. Will be tacking some 8mm strips of wood on top of the cabinets after painting them. Don’t think it will be very noticeable as the marble protrudes a bit above. Delivery next Thursday according to legend… we’ll see.

  • Also finding and fixing mistakes the guy who helped me fit the cabinets has made. Have had to remove a few cabinets, level the base and put them back again. The wall cabinets are off too. Won’t be paying him full price.

  • (The car jack is not a permanent feature)

  • Ready for some heavy rock action hopefully

  • Exciting times. Also a bit stressful as they demanded payment ahead of delivery but here they are and everything is looking good so far. This is certainly something for the professionals, can’t imagine an amateur getting a decent result mounting these fucking things.

  • Also, and I realise this is golf club thread fodder, I hadn’t thought of how long a stone slab can be made. Not 4.8 meters apparently so the long bit came in two pieces.

  • Very cool material IMO

  • Beautiful, loving the green.

  • Thanks. First world problems are still problems so to speak and this has been a bit of a hassle. But now I’ve got the tile guy booked for next week and with any luck water and electricity the day after, as well as the trim between the floor and the cabinets going in. Hopefully not much more than a week to go!

  • Bit of evening plumbing. I’m glad I don’t do this every day, I don’t fit very well under sinks.

  • All I want to say today is if you’re thinking of installing wall mounted taps from vola, think again. It now turns out the bits aren’t protruding far enough from the tiles so I’ve had to order some sort of adapter/extension which will take a week to arrive from Denmark. This is even worse than working on bikes ffs!

  • Cat seems to approve anyway

  • Looking good, really digging the marble and tiles. What colour is the grout?

  • Thanks, it’s dark gray. I’ll post some pics in daylight if I ever happen to see any.

  • Similar to my bathroom!

  • Indeed, and the plywood looks great - don’t think I’ve ever seen that on a bath.

  • I’m soldiering on with some stuff as I’ve got the day off and the carpenter is home sick. Fitting the extractor fan and waterproofing under the sink.

  • The carpenter used marine ply then it has wood floor varnish on it so hopefully water tight!
We also have ply boards on the kitchen floor - need to varnish those this weekend as we're using cardboard currently!

  • A brave choice for a wet room but idk anything about varnish I’ll admit, post some pics and details in your thread!

Edit: sorry, misread your post- I thought you were having a ply floor in the bathroom!

  • Think we’re finally on the home stretch!

  • Cracking job.
    What’s the flooring?

  • Thanks. Linoleum tiles, they’re called ‘marmoleum click’ and are made by forbo.

  • Got tired of the bastard plumber never showing up. It wasn’t exactly ikea level of simplicity but I got there in the end. No leaks so far…
