  • Yes fam - Shimano DA 9000 C50 Carbon Clinchers (WH-9000 CL)
    Rim brakes = HHSRB

The story is one as old as time:
Middle-age man buys himself boujie wheels (cos he's worth it.....)
Too nice to ride so they never get used
Need funds for a new road bike after my last one got turned into splinters by an oncoming car.
Flogs them to fund new project whilst wrangling with insurance company

50 mm deep 22.4 mm wide rim with alloy braking surface
This is actually quite good if you're lazy like me, enables poncey summer wheels without needing to switch out brake pads

    Techy bits
21 spoke rear and 16 spoke front
stainless steel butted and bladed straight pull spokes
3 mm offset asymmetric rear rim
Usual Shimano cup & cone bearings but with Borozon treated bearing races (no, me neither)
Titanium Freehub body for 8, 9, 10 and 11-speed cassettes
    1672 grams all in
    No skewers, tyres or cassette

    Photos to follow

Wasn't really sure how to price these
They were eye wateringly expensive when new (£1600) but a wee bit dated now I guess....

I was thinking £400 ish but if that's taking the piss, just shout (or put me in the "your classified is overpriced" thread)

Haha, copying this for my own rim brake wheelset add. Nice wheels, GLWS.

  • Will get some better ones in daylight tomorrow

  • As far as I know these hubs work with 12speed cassette too

  • Great wheels. I had the c24 version and they were so nice, hubs especially.

I see the nipples are sunken, is the carbon part still structural like the shallower ones or just a fairing ?

  • Cheers,
    Good question.
    Yes the carbon is structural
Not a very clear photo, but through the hole in the aluminium you can see a bit of spoke nipple pulling against the carbon

  • Do you know how wide internally and externally rim?

  • As @Glws says, 17mm internal

According to my dodgy plastic vernier the external is ~25mm

  • Detailed pics by daylight as promised …

  • Guy who had them before me put rubber stickers to dampen valve rattle
These have perished a bit and could do with replacing

  • I had a good look for defects and found this scuff on the stickers that also goes onto the breaking surface. I couldn’t feel the rim scratch with a nail and you certainly don’t feel it when braking

  • Also on the front wheel is this gel coat defect.

Back wheel had nothing as obvious as these two but in the daylight there’s a bit of grot here and there (usual places. Spoke holes etc

  • Cool wheels those hubs are the nuts and having an ally braking surface is the way to go. I have the slightly newer 9100 version :)

  • Cheers, agree on the braking surface - having to switch brake blocks as well as wheels is such a faff and the quality of braking on an aluminium surface in the rain etc makes me feel more secure!

  • Wheels provisionally sold to @DanM

  • Thank goodness these sold, saved myself

  • Nice. Interested in these if the sale falls through @Rik_Van_Looy

  • Sold to DanM for his splendid Saeco project
