Rotterdam always has a special place in my heart. We drove from Bristol one Friday, caught the ferry and went to a Spiral Tribe rave in the old library on the Saturday night. They almost didn't let us in but we explained the journey and they were impressed (it was in my Renault 9!).
There are two mixes on my Mixcloud that are cassette rips that we bought that evening.
It was a fucking mental weekend, I made it back into work at about 11AM on the Monday absolutely fucked. One of my mates smuggled some acid back in my car without telling me.

I went on a coach trip weekend to Ostend in 1988 with the insurance company Iād just started working for, spent the afternoons doing moules frites and monk beers, the evenings were new beat in dark dingy clubs, one of the best weekends ever.

Just got back from an A Certain Ratio gig - they were superb.
Had totally forgot this tune so when they played it was a nice memory jog to many end of the nights

I saw them a few years ago with Denise Johnson on backing vocals. They were great. This was always my favourite by them

š tune - that got played last night. I feared the worst when just three of them appeared for the opening couple of songs but then gradually the rest of the band appeared - sounded cracking.
R.I.P Denise. Fortunately the lass doing female vocals now was fantastic. Highly enjoyable gig.
Think this was my favourite thing they played:

Great first track, I think it was in this book I read where the 'watch your bass-bins...' came from (I never knew before that).

John Graham
Popular British production and remix artist whose contributions as Quivver, and as part of the Tilt trio helped shape the progressive trance/house movement of the late 90's. Graham originally began producing tracks in the early 90's under the alias Skanna, releasing several 12"s on the label of the same name. In 1994, he was signed to A & M Records Ltd. (UK) where, along with co-writer Neil Barry as Quivver, he produced and released 'Saxy Lady' and 'Twist & Shout'. The tracks were hits being spun by popular DJs such as Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, and Pete Tong. After a shake up at A & M, Quivver was signed to Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto label in 1995 where he released 'Believe In Me' and began producing with Mick Parks and Mick Wilson as Tilt. The trio went on to become one of the biggest groups of the late 90's producing several popular singles, including the top 20 hit 'Invisible' (with the help of guest vocalist Grace). In 1999, Graham split from Tilt to pursue a solo career. He was signed to VC Recordings, a sub-label of Virgin Records (UK), where he released 'Everything's Not You' as Stoneproof. He also released the massive 'Stage One' (as Space Manoeuvres) on Hooj Choons. Both tracks were massive successes bringing John Graham back to the forefront of the progressive scene.
2000 saw the return of the Quivver moniker with the release of the progressive hits 'One Last Time' and 'She Does'. In 2001, he mixed the 5th volume of the popular Transport series, and in 2002, he formed his own record label, BozBoz. Today, Quivver remains one of the most important and popular production artists in electronic music.

Probably belongs in the Techno or acid thread but back then everything was rave music to me. We would go to a DiY party and they would play deep house, go to Spiral Tribe and it was full on industrial techno or a local party could be happy hardcore but we 'just went to a rave'. It was a sound system in a field playing music we could dance to.
Anyway...... You know when you stumble across a track that was quite powerful but you never knew what it was? Here is one of those. I met someone in a field in the middle of nowhere in England one Saturday evening and struck up a great relationship with him. This was before social media and mobile phones and he lived in Essex and I lived in Bristol but we kept bumping into each other somewhere in the UK on a Saturday night.
We used to post each other mixtapes and he sent me a Colin Favour Mastermix tape of DJ Kudo from the Yellow Club in Tokyo and this was one of the tracks I loved on that mix. I have only just (tonight) discovered what it is and will be buying a vinyl copy for sure.

And here is my rip from the tape that Chris posted to me in 1992.

Unfortunately I lost contact with him, I know he got banged up for a bit but we did exchange a few letters after and then nothing :(

UK Apache & ShyFX - Original Nuttah
Saw this performed live with The Outlook Orchestra and UK Apache a few months ago - possibly the highlight of the night. Also have on vinyl, such an incredible tune that will still mash up the dancefloor in any club today.
Urban Shakedown - Some Justice 95
Still got my original copy of this as well, pretty much any rave you went to in 91/92 would play this at least once over the course of the evening/day
Two stone cold classics
