Looks like GCN+ is closing... shuts down on the 19th December. Refunds pro-rated until the end of the sub.

So no more live cycling online unless discovery is available online? I thought digital TV and subscription was supposed to bring more choice, not less!

What does this mean for you?

Access: Your subscription contract will end and you will be unable to access the GCN+ service and GCN app from 19 December 2023. Following closure, you can still use your GCN account on the GCN website at globalcyclingnetwork.com and the GCN Shop at shop.globalcyclingnetwork.com.

Upcoming payments: The GCN+ service will close on 19 December 2023 and you will be charged for any upcoming subscription payments up to that time. If you do not want to be charged for any upcoming payments, you can cancel your subscription prior to your next renewal date, however your access to the service will then end on that renewal date.

Refunds: If you have a subscription to the GCN+ service which is still running on 19 December 2023, we will arrange for a refund of any amounts that you have paid in advance for access to the service after that date. Please make sure you have a valid and up-to-date payment method. Refunds will be paid automatically, but in some instances may take some time to process for technical reasons.

That's a pity. I used them when I got rid of Eurosport through Virgin. I wonder what will happen with all their documentary content?

I don't really watch anything on GCN apart from the race coverage but I caught some of the Himalayas mini documentary and it was actually really good.

Yeah, I mostly got it to replace Eurosport channels but I'm a value for money guy so watched quite a lot of their docos over winter just coz I was paying for it. Enjoyed quite a few.

Looks like they’re trying to merge it all into Discovery+…yet another streaming service. Currently £6.99 a month but I’m sure that’ll increase soon like all the others have.

Annoyingly on Virgin TV D+ is bundled up with a load of shite that would cost £13.99/month.

Does D+ have the no adverts stream option still? That was a great USP.

Thing is, I don't want to pay monthly, much rather pay a one off yearly subscription and be done with it. Guess it won't be an option. Monthly subscriptions soon stack up, such a pain in the arse

Yes, it looks like there’s only an annual price for the basic package, which doesn’t include cycling. That’s the same price as I paid for GCN+ last year!

I suppose a monthly cost makes it easier to cancel out of season…
