• Hello everyone

So recently ive sold a chris king iso hubs laced to wtb kom rims. The buyer received them and they are claiming the rim is cracked. The pictures look like its a scratch to me, dont think i should be accepting the refund request?

Strange fact is that the buyer removed the tubeless tape to refit a new one, there was no issiues with the existing one so to me it seems like he dont want them anymore and has marked them on purpose?

These rims have the original rim tape i fitted from new. The mark werent there when ive done it

... very odd place to "crack". Its only in the area pictured, no marks anywhere else

mark looks quite fresh to me, as if it was done a while ago it would of been more dull and not so shiny?

I have also asked how the tubeless tape has been removed, the buyers reply was " plastic tire lever". This seems like a task that would of taken ages as its a sticky tape... very wrong tool for the job

I have advised him to get an email from a bike shop to state if the rims are cracked or not, bike shop can easily write what he wants them to write so not sure what to do

Id like to hear the forums opinion on this, ebay tends to side with the buyer

  • Looks like a Stanley knife or similar has-been used to cut tape and hence marked rim.

  • Yeah looks very much like a scratch to me and not something I’d be refunding for…

  • @thanksbye exactly my thoughts. Think £340 posted was a good price on these tbf

What do you reckon i should do?

If you zoom in to pic 3 you can see the rim tape has been cut too and it werent removed with a tire lever as the buyer claims

  • That appears to be fairly obviously a scratch rather than a crack. Ebay does tend to side with the buyer, though.

  • What do you think my chances are of winning the case?

These wheels fucked me off already tbf. Been lost in the post with evri too when i sold them previously, got negative feedback although all evidence has been provided. Sold them again and more bs...Wont be using ebay for a whike after this

  • You could take your chances and ask the buyer to take them to a bike shop to confirm if they’re cracked (even though they likely aren’t) which might discourage him from taking it further.
Otherwise you’ll have to just ask him to return them to you for a refund. Which he may also see as too much bother but worth a try…

  • Yeah already asked for him to go to a bike shop to confirm, only sensible solution for now i guess. He can make it there next week monday/tuesday.

I have to reply to the case by 17th

I said if they are cracked ill be happy to refund

  • Just sorted a refund, less headache. Will claim that i need a new tubeless kit upon arrival so will get my postage costs back

  • In future, if the buyer has low or questionable feedback it may be best to void the sale, block that buyer and relist. eBay only ever finds for the buyer, the old saying of "caveat emptor" needs retranslation into SELLER BEWARE of eBay !

  • Tbf he had a decent feedback. Only one negative feedback out of 76 sold/bought items

Anyway he will be joining the block list once i get these bloody wheels back

Had a good streak going untill these f'ing wheels. Will be relisting them on here again

  • Fyi if on return of the item there are parts missing get in contact with ebay and after a bit of back and forth you keep the payment and keep the wheels. The buyer also gets a refund so its a win win situation

  • Will go down the route if there are missing bits
Will definitely be missing the perfectly fine tubeless rim tape and valves

  • A hunner percent that’s a scratch.

Sadly, also a hunner percent eBay will fuck you over if you do anything other than accept the return.

  • Yeah I've accepted it,

Strangely theres silence now since I've sent over the shipping label etc. Well hes got till the 5th to return them otherwise it will get cancelled

  • I reckon he was angling for the “here’s £X partial refund”. You’ve called his bluff with the full refund, be interested to see how this plays out.

  • Yeah you're 100% correct

He was asking for £150 back 😂. No chance over a mark that he has put there himself

What a world we live in. Why can't people just be honest, before they arrived i've offered 11.99 back so the buyer could buy the ck silver bearing lube as these are running a bit dry. Muppet

Anyway these will be on a discount for sale here if i end up getting them back, gonna claim with evri that they caused those "cracks". They messed me around a lot recently. Still owed 320£ from them

Ill keep this thread updated if theres any reply etc

  • When Evri used the marketing line "The new Hermes" I knew there was some annoying shit in store - and they don't fail to live down to expectations.

  • Evri is doing very bad atm. Lot of losses. Dont think they will be around in the next 2 years

    • Why can't people just be honest*

    • gonna claim with evri that they caused those "cracks"*

  • A company who lost a frame i sold, damaged a set of forks beyond repair and stolen items out of a parcel i think thats fair enough.... wouldn't do that to an individual, and thats what i was implying when i said that

    Thanks for input

  • Their strap line should be "Evri body HATES us". As usual Trustpilot (that's a joke name too) has been stuffed with fake 5* reviews having comments that Rolls Royce would be proud of.

Looking at other review sites, they reflect my own experience, giving it just 1, and that's because ZERO is not an option. I'm glad to see that people refuse to buy from shops that use Evri. https://www.reviews.io/company-reviews/store/evri.com

If you have a problem, please report Evri to trading standards, we need to get this company closed down, it's a disgrace.

  • Yeah only used it as its convenient with my working hours, can drop it off whenever. I try to avoid these wankers whenever possible

  • I guess I’m old fashioned when it comes to honesty and integrity

  • Not going to happen, they are pretty widely used by online retailers now. The complaints will represent a tiny fraction of a percent of the parcels they handle.

I don’t actually mind when I’m receiving from them. Our local guy is great and if there’s any problems it’s the retailers problem not mine.

Why an individual would choose to ship with them is beyond me though.
