  • 4 hour round trip to collect the tandem today. The owner was an enthusiast. Bereft to see it go.

It's cosmetically very good, a few marks here and there but nothing major. Mechanically very sweet, clearly been very well looked after. Brakes, tyres, gears all absolutely fine.

For £80 it's an unbelievable bargain.

  • Well, she’s the stoker, so she’s not wrong

  • Does look great

  • OK so I've gone from owning zero tandems to now owning two tandems this week.

  • You bought the Gitane too?

  • Got me a Motobecane interclub tandem from gewurzt on here.

I'm actually gonna give it to my parents. If they don't get on with it/want it then I'll probably tidy it up a bit, upgrade it and cosmetically smarten it up and then maybe sell it on. I may also end up keeping it.

    N+1 etc

  • Good work. I've got 3 tandems which also appeared almost all at once.

Reminds me, I should get the kids out on them before they're too cool to ride with me

  • Got me a Motobecane

Then you should definitely buy the Gitane

    1. Gotta have all the French tandems
    2. Gotta save anybody else from the life of pain which is coming to anybody who owns something so doubly cursed
  • My wife has been fairly understanding of my bike habits thus far but another two seater might push her over the edge

I had a count last night and I currently have 8 bikes. Still, different bikes for different needs and all that.

  • Does anyone want to rescue a Pashley tandem from my garden? It'll just disintegrate if it's left here. SE London.

  • Got a French touring tandem in Glasgow in need of a new home, 80s, brown and on 650B I think, would benefit a flat bar conversion if anyone is game? Sorry to hijack!

I'm keeping a really tidy bob Jackson swb tandem, only sees the outside world maybe twice a year but it's so so nice :p

  • Hey bud, nice to meet you the other day, glad you managed to got home alive wearing the sliders!

Looks like you could have a third tandem if you want it?

  • Hey dude - yes made it back in one piece. The motobecane certainly shifts when it's up to speed! Glad the move went OK for you guys!

I'll have to pass on the third tandem as tempting as a hat trick is...

  • Cheap Thorn child back tandem in York: https://www.gumtree.com/p/bicycles/thorn-child-back-tandem-/1463938616

  • I’ve got a tandem car roof rack attachment here that I no longer have space for. If anyone wants it let me know as otherwise I’ll need to chuck it.

    Pickup in clapton E5

Sorry for bad pic but you get the idea

  • Finally got around to having my tandem painted. Posted this a couple of years ago, chopped and brazed together from two broken frames and some cromo. Looks so much more complete now.

More pics on Flickr if yer interested.

  • so so so cool

  • Wow, that's amazing! Double Flites look cool as hell

  • Spotted earlier in my lbs, apparently gets two holidays a year and then a good service.
