  • I've been nervously trying to justify buying the new steam deck when I barely even play videogames these days but then I remembered I paid retail price for Paul Motolites. Surely if I can allow myself to pay that much for obsolete braking technology for a 30 year old mountain bike then I can justify a steam deck

  • Same here.

    I’m a gamer.
Own Nintendo Switch and PS5 for console exclusives.

Not sure if I can justify Steam Deck (I don’t travel that much) but also really want - especially now with the pretty noticeable updates free of charge.

I guess if I own Switch (for portable gaming and exclusives) and PS5 as a main power gaming machine, I don’t really need a Steam Deck?

    Or do I?

  • Not really. Have you tried Sony remote play?

  • Not yet.

My internet is pretty weak-ish, but might give it a go.

  • Ohhh turns out mine is a Fanatec Speedster 3 for OG XBOX.

Might get an adapter and try nonetheless, but I think it will be hours wasted to no avail. Would be amazing if it worked, as I remember the feedback was excellent.

Alternatively would be looking at a fair expense for something PC-based, just to satisfy OR2 urges.

  • I've installed RollerCoaster Tycoon 1/2 on my Mac earlier today using OpenRCT2 and I'm somewhat addicted again.

  • You can play RCT2 on a Mac??? Gonna have to Google this today... Open RCT2 you say..

  • Probably a Portmaster type setup. Programs like ScummVM and Portmaster are amazing.

  • Yeah, this is the thing you want openrct2.org.

You also need the original game files which you have a few options to source, can get them off the original CDs, or the steam/gog versions work as well I think. My CDs are back home so I just found the full files on Internet Archive and they've worked fine so far.

Runs really well and has a pretty decent community of plugin creators too it looks like for useful additions as well. Installs super easy as well, just download and OpenRCT2, point it to the folder of original game files when prompted and that's it.

  • Got my infinite rank in marvel snap yesterday, super chuffed, been trying to break into level 100 for a while. Finally did it, and now I’m so frustrated by the quick retreat in infinite rank, makes the game almost unplayable as opponents pull the plug after a turn or two, if the cards/locations don’t fall in their favour.
Might just spend my time in conquest mode..

  • Steamdeck price drops now the OLED's on its way. Now I want a Steamdeck. Can't see many competitors.

  • Anyone finish CP2077 and it's new dlc? Is it worth buying now? Will it come to gamepass?

  • I finished the main story, but not the DLC, 1/2 way through that dlc before I started Alan Wake, which has put me off games for a while as it was SO GOOD.

The recent changes in the CP2077 2.0 update were good and the game is eminently enjoyable. Just remember it's a story driven game, not a GTA style run and make your own fun game.

P.s the cyber sword arms were pretty fun.

  • cheers :-)

Im trying to decide what i should get for this winter gaming weather...

Im absolutely rubbish at finishing games as i have the attention span of a 3 year old.
I have loads of games i have not come close to even really getting into but cant seem to bring myself to either. Meh

  • Have you tried Vampire Survivors? Proper fun short and often game.

  • I struggle with that as well. Probably why I’m stuck in the 90’s. I can focus on Dreamcast games like JSR. Enjoyed running various Pico-8 games lately. Easy on and offable.

  • just how bad a goldfish are you? A few of us on here can vouch for Dredge, but you do eventually have to remember there's a story to follow.

  • Not recent but I've been enjoying Hotline Miami recently for quick blasts of gaming. First game I've finished in a while.

  • Hades and Vampire Survivors

  • Slay the Spire gets played daily.

  • What type of games are you into? I'm similar but my problem isn't attention span, I just never get time to actually play anything, particularly for any period longer than 1 hour, so anything that requires me to remember difficult button configs or involved quests invariably means i have to relearn everything when i go back to it. Stuff with discrete chapters work for me - Outer Wilds, Sifu and the Spider-Mans are all pretty easy pick up and play 30mins which I've enjoyed recently.

  • Vampire Survivors

Sadly not my thing. Looks like proper brain crack 😂

  • the 90’s

    The best.

  • I'll take a look at it.
