  • Depends which "Italian" frame, most of them are made in China these days

An actual Italian frame made by hand in Italy bitd 🇮🇹

  • For inspiration look no further than Ian Hallam (KP Crisps SABA) riding his SABA (really a Viner) decked with Shimano :)

  • I need a ticket for a sold out show at Barbican tomorrow night. Do people still tout tickets outside venues?

  • Rapha bib shorts: I have a feeling they come up on the small side ie if you’re in between two sizes, you should opt for the larger size. Is that correct?

  • I haven't found that to be the case. I'm a medium in nearly all bib brands, with the expection of Italian brands

  • I want to change from my current sim only deal to a new one. Probably looking at Vodafone or EE (I've been with Three and O2 and they are both shit) which appear to be the more expensive providers.

Anywhere else I should be looking for decent deals rather than just on their websites? Most stuff seems to have deals if you get a phone but I don't need a new one.

  • You might want to consider an MVNO. Eg Asda Mobile is on the Vodafone network and appears better value.

  • There are quite a few smaller providers using EEs network, have a look on the comparison sites, they usually tell you which network they piggyback, you might even be able to filter by it, there's a few almost black Friday deals floating about too. My contract is up soon so I've been looking, probably Lyca or smarty will get my few quid a month.

  • Money saving expert has you covered. A while back I scored 30Gb for £5, then price hiked to £9, which remained the best deal.

  • Where do people get their discontinued Lego sets from, that aren't insanely priced? Does such a place exist?

Want to get a particular set for my nephew but it's about 500x the price on eBay.

  • Want to get a particular set for my nephew but it's about 500x the price on eBay

    Is it a discontinued set?

I found Smyths had good Lego deals on last year in the run-up to Christmas. Set up an alert on Hot Deals UK?

  • Yeah discontinued a while ago, it's a certain Lord of the Rings Lego set I think they stopped quite a while ago.

  • Look on the money saving expert website, got a lebara (runs off vodafone) deal off there and it's been fine for me (although not really sure what the 'shit' rating for your previous networks takes into account)

  • Cheers all. My cursory look had shown virtual networks on Three which was pretty much unusable at home when I used to be on them.

The shit rating is just based on me having crap reception whilst others on different networks seem to be fine.

  • I thought led bulbs were meant to be efficient.

As above, 100lm/w would have been an A+ rating in old money and is still fine. If the lamp does the job it needs to i'd be paying more attention to the power consumption. High efficacy fittings (lm/w) quite often draw more power therefore to achieve a higher efficacy average for building regs like Part L people use higher power fittings which pushes up the w/m². I've done some low energy schemes successfully using fittings with low efficacy/efficiency's.

  • Just brought my old iMac down from a cold loft into a warm (for today’s economic climate) house. Am I right in thinking that I should leave it to acclimatise for a bit before turning it on? If so, how long should do it?

  • Leave it a good 48 hours otherwise it may warp.

    Just turn that sucker on

  • Ok I’m doing it, but you’ll have ruined my daughters birthday if it dies :—D

  • Daughter's crying now, thanks

  • Can anyone that has a frame with Paragon Rocker dropouts or sliding dropouts and 12x142 on the rear measure the total width of the rear end at both extreme points?
Rough estimate from my side would be 142mm for the hub, then around 10mm each side for the rocker/sliding plates, then 10mm each side for actual dropouts so around 185mm give or take.
I wanted to have a bit more precise value to see if my plan to have a 385mm long chainstay bike with rocker or sliding dropout would be fine without any heel clearance issue

  • What’s the difference between a lockshield and a manual radiator valve? Other than the cover over the end of the tap? And could I use a pair of lockshields on a towel tail so that it would make it a pain to turn off?

  • Money saving expert and Uswitch

  • If you have thermostat valves, you need one radiator/towel rail so you won't damage the pump.

Be fine imo, as you will always want warm towels. You can close the valve with an adjustable spanner.

  • Ta that’s what I thought the rail is the only rad without a TRV and has a pair of manual valves at the moment. Somebody keeps turning it off. The need for tools should stop them :D
