I just wear some hiking trousers a lot, as long as they're flexible it's ok. Most MTB trousers are pretty strudy so riding long in them isn't great. I did heave some endura ones, they were good, if heavy and bulky. But for proper MTB they were solid.
Yeah, but cycling-specific trousers have things like smart seam placement, reinforced butt area, more room at the knees, tigher ankles or ankle straps, higher back for when leaning over, lower front, yada yada.
